Even as most of the precious water spilled from her hands as she brought it to her lips, what little she managed to drink worked its way through her dehydrated body. It coated her parched throat as it slid downwards. Her joints regained their mobility. Her sluggish blood quickened its flow and her migraine melted away. One by one, the cells in her body seemed to revive. If there had been anyone to witness the event, they would have undoubtedly proclaimed it a miracle brought about the powers of water of life.

The water of life could only be created by an alchemist using their skill. It was thanks to the powers of this water that Mariella finally recalled her situation.

“There was a Stampede. The monsters had gone on a rampage,” she whispered.

Mariella lived in the Kingdom of Endulgia; a small country surrounded by craggy mountains and the Demon Forest. Care needed to be taken of the monsters in the Demon Forest but the craggy mountains that surrounded the country formed a natural fortress that protected the country from outsiders. The mountains were also rich with mineral resources. And although there was little land available for reclamation, what little could be farmed proved to be rich and plentiful, providing great bounty for its people.

Too many interruptions today to continue.
