Generally speaking, I guess we shouldn’t step down to someone’s low level… It just doesn’t work.

It’s an old image I saw from 9gag that makes plenty of sense, it’s like playing chess with a pigeon, they’ll just move all across the board and make all pieces fall down, and them fly away proudly of their good job.
Or… Was there another image… Oh, maybe it was something about not lowering yourself to a troll’s level because then they’ll beat you with experience… Yeah, it was probably this one that I was remembering.

Beating someone with experience, I love this concept… I think I’m relatively young, but… I do have plenty of experience, in particular, I have tons of experience with shittalking.

As in… I think I’m better than almost anyone at shittalking, seriously, I have a lot of experience on that, I bet nobody else had hour long discussions about how the Uber God Of The Uber Pudding is the ultimate being of the universe and how the Magical Poop cannot compare to its greatness… Yep, I had a weird middle/high school, lots of fun.

But well, if there is something you get with enough experience on shittalking is that… It gets boring. Sooner or later you run out of pointless arguments to make, and it becomes a repetition… Still has some charm to pick flaws on your opponents arguments and the like, not because they prove your point, but because your opponent’s point crumbles in itself… It’s fun, because I don’t need to present a point, I just need to pick flaws on yours and let you defend yourself, only to pick more and more flaws into an endless cycle, until your patience runs out and I win by default without providing a single argument aside from my very first point.

So… When I realized someone was doing that to me, I kinda… Laughed? Like, really? You wanna win against me on my own game? Sorry, but you won’t, nobody wins against me on my game.

I got surprised about how much damage I took on my pride by stepping down my level and going from actual argumentation back to shittalking… Really, once you go out of it, getting back to it is a huge blow on pride.

But wow, it was fun, seriously, it was so fun.
I said it was boring though, didn’t I? Then how come it’s now fun? Simple… Experience.

Shittalking gets boring, when the 2 parties are used to it, because you already went over that… For years. With the same person, over and over again for years… Sooner or later it gets boring, that’s when you move on.
This needs a partner, it needs someone that is as willing to immerse themselves into shittalk as you are, this isn’t easy to find, you need to be very lucky… Or unlucky for that.

I had someone I shittalked with a lot, my opponent this time hadn’t. And so… When I went down to their level, they couldn’t fight back… It was fun~

It was fun, because that talk was starting to annoy me, it was getting kinda stressful and I was losing my patience… Simply playing their game and make them quit after just a few exchanges was soooo fulfilling~
But really, heavy blow on pride… It’s like… “I’m the one saying that? Come on, I’m over this kind of thing…” The way I was talking is the way that would make me annoyed at a person if I was a third party looking at the exchange.

So… Well, it’s a bit of a mysterious feeling, fun, fulfilling, but damaging on my own pride at the same time.
Going down to other people’s level is definitely not something we should do, damaging my pride isn’t on my list of hobbies… But hey, I had my fun.

If anything, I guess it would be more fun if I had done it all by myself, but some people that were still talking seriously helped… Well, still good enough for me~

Is this what’s described in novels as “A skill that is useless against others the same level and can only be used to bully the weak”?
