Person A is being chased, hunted, attacked or whatever. Someone is after their life.
They do all they can to escape from their pursuer.
Person A runs like they’ve never run before. So hard and fast that it starts hurting.
Person A runs, looks back, runs, looks back, runs, looks back, runs...
They look back one more time and see an opportunity. They wait for the right moment and *bang*.
Person A has successfully hit their pursuer.
It’s a clean hit to their head. So hard that it causes them to fall to the ground.
Person A stops. They look at their pursuer. They’re either not moving or they’re on the ground moving groggily.
Person A has one last look and then they start running again...

#?!€$#%¥? What the fuck is wrong with you? That was the perfect chance to hit them a few more times and possibly kill them while they were down.
Why would you waste this opportunity and run away?
Were you scared you won’t be able to hit them?
They’re on the ground barely moving. You’re pretty much guaranteed to hit them.
Were you scared they might be pretending to be knocked out and the moment you get close they’ll grab you?
You could get some heavy solid things and throw them at the person’s head from a distance. Even if you miss the head you could do serious damage to their body.
Or you could get something long and give them a few whacks without having to get close to them.

Person A why do you do none of that and run instead? Are you thinking “yes they’re down. Now is my chance to escape”? I see your logic but ultimately you’re taking a gamble there. A gamble that doesn’t pay off.
A couple of minutes later you’ll get caught by your pursuer and lose your life. If only you had decided to attack instead of run away.

A common scene from horror movies that really annoys me. Grrr!

Ah. The feeling you want to go inside the screen and wants to beat the Person A real hard. Then go after the pursuer to give a taste of your own fist too. :blobpopcorn_two:

I suddenly remembered the movie called The ATM. Ugh. :blobpopcorn_two:

Because the movie wasn't long enough yet and it won't make money if it end too quickly.

Running is always the best option tbh... It's safer.

Also, in the self defense class I took in college, we were taught that the BEST thing to do is to run away as soon as possible. Hit them so your attacker is off of you, then run.

If you kill them with the first hit, that’s self-defense. If you hit them again after the pursuer is down, that’s murder. Of course, that’s speaking for real life, not horror movies...
