I recently switched over from iOS to Android and still haven't really found an epub reader that I like. Anybody have any recommendations?
Another vote for Moon Reader + It's the best out of many I've tried. Also, you could try and upload it to google books and read it from the app. But it's a hassle and consumes a lot of storage space in my experience.
I personally dont like moon reader because the animations for the free version aren't that great. Imo the best are : Lithium- for just epubs , great design based on material so it works well and looks fantastic. Doesn't have the greatest developer support Ereader Prestigio. Weird library design but supports all sorts of formats and has a really nice page curl animation when flipping through pages. Also another option is to just upload the epubs to google play books. it allows you to view them on any device and keep your progress synced.
lithium is actually quite good, too bad you don't have control on what books are added to it as it auto-scans your phone and adds it automatically. plus, it respects internal epub formats. so that's good too. prestigio is actually fine, and for most people, already a decent app for epubs. Too bad it sets its own formatting instead of the book. as for google playbooks...
I've been using Moon+ Reader Pro for years. I don't remember what the exact differences between the free and Pro versions are, other than TTS in Pro. The main reason I chose Moon+ Reader (free) as my fav ebook app was because on top of standard page turning that's in all apps, it allowed me to scroll through the chapters, just like in a browser. IMO, scrolling is less distracting than going from the bottom right to the top left corner of the screen to continue reading. TTS is a huge convenience since it allows me to focus on the story more (I read and listen) or just listen to the stories as I do some chores, etc. The Pro version is 50% off ATM, IINM. Unfortunately, the developers made an idiotic change to the screen gestures while TTS is active, two weeks back or so, but IMO there's no better app out there (or at least I haven't found any)....
I'm using Moon Reader and pretty much happy with that. There's a lot of customization, page animation, night mode, and the most important, searching by folder, not auto-searching. Also downloading from Google Drive.
