  Google won't translate this, but I solved it: "ウドの大木" or "A large Udo tree" is an idiom for "something useless". Now you know :)

  Hey man, just found out about you translating Guin Saga. I'm curious why you would start at Book 6 though? Have books 1-5 already been translated to English? I scrolled down and there mentions of an anime, so is book 6 immediately after the anime?
  
  Just to let you know, I think it's awesome that you're dedicating time and effort into this and I appreciate it.

    Book 1-5 have official translations available, beyond that the series have been stalled for 9 years in terms of translations.
    The anime goes up to around book 16 I think but I have no idea how much content was cut out to fit 16 volumes in 26 episodes.

Guin Saga books 1-5 are already translated in English, and published by Vertical. I cannot, and will not post translations for these first five books. If you can find them for free, good for you, otherwise expect to have to pay for those.
I am translating starting with book 6, so if you need to catch up, and don't have the money, watch the anime series episodes 1-10 and you will be fine.
