Chiya // any pronouns are fine.
Easier to list out pet peeve than interests but:
- Romance Fantasy or historical genre that somehow depict inaccurate historical timeline is biggest ick, but when they've done them right, it would turned to be really great. (design & setting wise in world building)
- Protagonists who were very goal-driven and still stick to it until end of story (except certain circumstances that had to made a new resolutions) are already considered as a strong character to me, even if they designed to be physically weak. Girl bosses archetype is fine however can easily written to be inconsistent, mary-sue, and distasteful without written by valid human flaws.
- Shoujo/Josei stories who always made other female characters in a bad light in order to make the protagonist shine is definitely a big ick for me because it very much rooted in mysoginistic writing as they served them in author punching bag instead of proper written female with villainous trait.
- Bland written Male character and a boring dynamic of main couple of the story will be on my blacklist real fast because I'm the type to be engaged with the characters, whether they are toxic or in healthy relationship.
- Enemies to lovers are forever be my favorite couple dynamic tropes no matter how often they always depicted on fiction but I have yet to find one that managed to be well-written. (For hetero couple, but I can easily find them in BL&GL one)
- Mystery genre is always welcome to my booklist, political element is okay as long as its not suffocating enough, not a big fan supernatural device unless if it's explicitly used in the beginning story as within the genre itself.
