Don't let him lay down. It's probably internal bleeding or a hemorrhage depending on point of impact and speed. He needs his head raised or else if he vomits he'll choke.
Have someone check on his vital signs and call an ambulance immediately. The spoon in the mouth, thing, is a myth. Check if he can breath and bring him to the nearest hospital.
From what I know, the exactelly opposite thing should be done: recline his head so he won't choke. Don't move the patient as it's possible that he has internal damages, i.e. broken bones that can penetrate his internatl organs. The sole thing that you can do is put his head in a position that'll allow him to spit out the puke.
