I don't think this novel is really "that" horrifying, it's got a few creepy aspects but without getting any visuals, audio or anything really, it's hard to be scared. All of it is recreated in your head, and everything in your head is already somewhat familiar to you, and what people are most afraid of is the unknown...
I don't think I'll ever read something actually scary if it's just in a text format.
For example, if I could actually listen to an audio clip of Black Friday or the Wedding song the author mentions, maybe, just maybe, I'll get a hint of how terrifying the story setting really is.
Lol, it differs from person to person. I'm the type who can not last more than ten minutes watching gory and horror movies, so reading this novel is already a challenge for me.
