People with high like count have long stopped caring about their likes... They just come with time as you post, it doesn't really matter. Message count can be fun just for the sake of having a goal to grind for, but even then, people don't care that much for it.
probably because it acts as some sort of measure of popularity which then gets associated with the person's sense of self worth not a very healthy mindset but that's human nature I guess
