how the CPrince becomes a "fish" and the Empress Dowager a "doll/puppet"? The manhwa doesn't really explain it in depth and I am very confused.

Spoiler: Fish and Tree

The Crown Prince is a 'fish' because Heon Young tossed him into a water prison (the most cruel form of torture in their dynasty).

As for ' Tree', the manhwa stopped at the Empress being hit on her pressure point by Heon Young. What happened after that is only mentioned in the novel.

Before she could regain control over her body, Heon Young had ordered for her to be given a poison that kills the body tissue. She turned into a living corpse.


Honestly! Heon Young is one of the, if not the most, scariest male leads.

In a certain angle, from the way it was narrated, it can be implied that ML is just hallucinating about FL. Did FL die? The way he woke up from a nightmare to the way no one knows who the guest is since ML locked her up. No one knows if FL is really there? IDK I'm just overthinking maybe I think I read too many dark ones .
