I'm thinking 73, he was aiming to make that 72 sword set so I'm assuming he'll use 72 fully matured bamboo as raw materials and leave 1 as backup just in case his refining fails and he'll need to grow more.

 

I wonder if he can switch his puppet refining from 100 year old wood to this fully mature super bamboo

Also, funny that super bamboo is the antithesis of bamboo. bamboo is famously the fastest growing plant on earth, growing ~3 feet / ~1 meter a day.

I can't get over just how awful combat is in this story. Combat mostly revolves around speed, and is totally inconsistent at that.

That's true but Rogue Cultivators also have to consider the Risk/Reward & Cost/Benefit ratios. Disarming the traps may be more than they can afford and offending a faction that can splurge on putting up such elaborate/expensive traps may be more than they can handle.

 

They already offended whomever it was by killing the guy before. They are in too deep, since they already offended they might as well loot

 

not necessarily. Traps could be used on unsuspecting victims. They lure people by saying they found a spirit sealing pillar and then they die while try to pick, then the person who set the trap gets all there stuff.
Though thier probably is something there because protagonist correction.
