So one of my cousin is going to enroll in university and she asked my opinion between using A4 or B5 notebooks. I cannot really help her make decision because I don't have any preference, I used B5 in high school and A4 in college, both have advantages and disadvantages. With A4, it's larger and I can put in and organized the hand-outs that usually come in A4, but it take too much space when I put it on desk and I need larger bag to carry it. With B5, it's smaller and fit better in my bag, but I would have to fold my hand-outs to fit in, plus because the smaller size, I would need more papers. This led me to be curious, what about you guys? Do you prefer A4 or B5?
I mean, A4 is probably closer to the size of paper I like, but in the end, I prefer a 20.3x26.6cm notebook.
No paper. It's the 21st century, people use tablets. https://www.techlicious.com/guide/best-note-taking-tablets/
I tend to write a bit larger and sloppier, so I use A4 to maximize space for my writing. Used that size since forever. Had one English course where our teacher required a B5 sized binder for daily journals, and I HATED it
Depends on a subject, sometimes just scribbling notes in the text book/printout of the class notes is better. Then again about a third of my class took notes on their laptop , whereas I preferred paper as I was a slow typer in that situation. Large post it notes stuck to a relevant page of a textbook or a printout, or the blank page(at the back) if it’s single side print is a great place as well...
Depends really, I use both an a4 and an a5 notepad. A4 for calculations and for lectures with a lot of info. A5's when I need to jot down a quick note or some data, or when I'm standing
I wish... However in my country, everyone still uses papers. For one, a good tablet is rather expensive and second, some lecturer actually forbids their students using any electronic devices, they want to have students' 100% attention (no sleeping, talking, or going out in the middle of the class. Yes, those lecturers still treat students like they're still in high school). Yeah, I went to college in Europe and everyone there used A4. I cannot find B5 paper, which was also why I use A4 in college.
Looks like Brazil, to me... In the good old times you could go to the datacenter and use the loads of paper those fellows leave in the trash and bind your own notebook (I did it, worst outcome possible). Now the paper is a lot cheaper, and you can use things like blocks of lined paper with 2, or 4 holes to put it in binders. I would use A4 for everything. I'm even changing my vote.
B5! as for the reason why, I haven't found any A4 sized loose leaf yet. My handwriting can be really, really small that my teachers often scold me. anyway, with that handwriting, I could use 5mm ruled loose leaf instead of those 6mm and have tighter notes.
Back in college, Ai-chan always used exam pads to take notes. Don't know what size that was. They all have the same size. If you say exam pad, everyone will know exactly which one you're talking about, regardless of the brand.
I use A4 unlined notebooks since my notes tend to be messy and I prefer mind-mapping if I can get away with it.
At Uni I used A4 loose leaf and placed the paper into a binder at the classes end. This was mainly because not all classes had desks and had those stupid fold out on the chairs. Now a days I use B6 unlined notebook.
