Discussion About the new tag : System

So currently there's a surge of system based novels...
While many of them are...
Cough... cough... executed poorly...
I believe it should not be viewed as a plot armour or cheat for mc and itself deserve a genre or a tag it self...
System im talking about is the type mc receive as a helper of some sort...

Also
To novel writers...
The mc with system have so much potential to explore such as Horse caring system and etc... totally not saying it should be about horse caring...

So fellow daoists and nuffians

We need to systematically eradicate such novels!

 

"System" tag? Isekai novels are generally part of "System", KR "Gaming" novels then no need to talk about it, while CN Xianxia then "Cultivation" can also be called it own "System", so what kind of novel is for "System" tag?
EDIT: The new tag is "System Administrator". That's clearly more define than the general "System" meaning.(Or I think so, cause in Series Finder then that's the only "System" tag Scratch that. There are 4 "System" tags)

Perhaps ure a victim of one of those novel that abuses the usage of system?

 

If it's well implemented i like them, i just hate the typical JP novel where they throw in a system and MC just goes for a whatever build and becomes a jack of all trades while being mediocre at everything. In one novel he did so for himself but specialized his waifus, so they got to go level while he had to heal and rebuild walls and didn't grow in level, annoyed me to no end.

System from God of Tenis, The mech touch and etc.

The main charm from such novels are not plot nor world building...
Is fan service, over rated drama and comedy..

 

In a lot of novels, the system replaces the collection of cheats(plot armour) a character 'normally' accumulates ... i.e. divine fire, demonic bones, golden eggshells, superduper whatever etc.
So instead of being creative in describing how and where the MC gains his usual cheats - he just gets a bag full of them.
And sadly most often the MC is the only one with a system ... at least in other stories, he stumbles from time to time upon someone who has a cheat as well.

And to answer your question: it should be a tag -imho

 

We already have game elements and system administrator tags which is already sufficient.

 

I supposed u guys are grown ups and can identify the diff between request and discussion...

 

system novels are great. I assume we aren't talking about gaming novels, but novels in which the MC receives a system, or the world has a natural system. My first encounter with these was The Gamer. Bro awakens into a world where his magic is a game-like system. very enjoyable. Latest one I have been reading is over on royalroadl, The Arcane Emperor. Systems are great because we can literally track power progress.

Can be good and can be trash.
I find it enjoyable to read coupled with shameless and troll type of protagonists. ( the strongest system , ultimate cheat and the final boss is no joke ( in the final boss it's not a helping system tho )

tag is good

 

It should include a game elements aspect to it, such as stats or skills or titles and the like, but it should also be able to respond actively to the MC. Like a guide or something. Think Crazy Lich's sarcastic af system. But honestly, if it doesn't actually respond then it should just be game elements with a stats screen and skills screen.

I'd include AI helpers as part of system... Like HacKer's AI, Izual, or whatever thing WMW had.

As for whether I like it or not, depends on how it's done. Just a snide system is getting annoying and boring... I like HacKer's Izual the most out of all the AI/Systems. Neutral and helpful and overall the best assistant.

system administrator sounds like someone who works on computers, not a system
