Sup NU... or is it NUF? I'm looking for stuff with MCs that are heroic in more than just the descriptions the authors give of them. Y'know, people who do good, or at least -try- to. Dark themes are fine, but I'm tired of reading about sociopaths. Bonus points are available for characters that are genuinely heroic but also not afraid to do what it takes to protect innocent people or get rid of evil ones. I like Chinese and Korean novels primarily, but at this point I am so starved for people who aren't monsters wearing human skin or just selfish doucheoceans that I'll take what I can get. PS: Yes, I did register just to ask this. I'm mostly curious what people will come at me with, suggestion wise~

You're going to have some difficulty with that due to changing morality over the course of history. I think there should be a couple but most stories set in an 'ancient' time period are often going to end up with at least some mild sociopathy involved by modern standards due to human life just not being worth as much. I'd guess try looking for stories either set in modern times or 'traditional' western high fantasy, though if you're after Chinese or Korean novels specifically choices seem to be limited, especially if you're restricted to only translated stories. Shen Yin Wang Zuo might work for you, the MC seems fairly traditionally heroic though the primary love interest is less so.

I think the closest you'll get is probably Shen Yin Wang Zhou I can't think of any other "good" guy who isn't a complete hypocrite that think like a 15 year old...
NUF Zombie Knight, MC is a true hero. Really selfless, yet definitely not afraid to get rid of the baddies. It's a western WN tho, so not on NU. Google it There's actually a lot of western WNs with heroic MCs

Sendai Yuusha wa Inkyou Shitai About a Hero that "retired" after he was summoned again, but still keep doing good deeds even if he didn't mean to since he wants to retire. Well... I'm not sure if it's actually what you're looking for.
A Thought Through Eternity..Uncle Senior Bai is no sociopath, but he is also No Hero, he rather be the damsel in distress than a hero because how much he fears DEATH.

My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending Possibly Akuyaku Tensei Dakedo Doushite Kou Natta. (Although this isn't so much about heroic actions as it is about the MC struggling to do well by those under her responsibility) While the MCs aren't all sweetness and light and can in some cases make decisions out of self-interest, they generally all try to do what is best for the greatest number of people, even at the cost of their own safety and well-being. For actual novels that have online translations, Arslan Senki and Juuni Kokki. (Going for Japanese novels and LNs since you've probably read any Chinese or Korean ones I could recommend.)
