When i skim through the koreans... Using google of course... I read that the assassin were sent by the 2nd wife's father, aka MC's maternal grandfather. So i think there's a chance the 2nd wife doesn't know anything Edit: And looking back on ch. 5 of the webtoon.. the guy who casted the magic looks a bit small for the duke.. so i i think that one is the brother instead of the duke?? How is anything he did was neutral? Glad she doesn’t forgive him.
I can’t help it I hate the dad so much I wish he’d suffer a violent death at the hands of Keira. I wanna see a death happen to him like what Sansa did to Ramsey Bolton from Game of Thrones.

Then Ludwig (The sh*t duke) asks her "Did you enjoy your trip?" he also says "I thought you'd take a long time." and she replies "yes it was fun and until it gets warm again I'll stay at the mansion." and before the ch ends she says "I'm home." and tada ch ends. So it means she forgives the duke, which is bullsh*t. But it was also mentioned his childhood was harsh, 'an unloved child who never received love' but then he treats his own daughter the same way Maybe I'll translate the full chapter although I don't wanna even watch the manhwa Ohh there are a few side story that is out yesterday btw.
I don't think the rewind magic was casted right after the MC was executed. I think it was much later, when shit hit the fan. If the duke is the one doing the magic in the webtoon glimpse ....then look at how shabby he looks, shabby clothes like a beggar. So, I think after the MC died everything was OK, then problems little bit little started, and when Cosette was asked to perform the ritual to ask the water goddess Beatrice...then it was revealed she's fake. So maybe after this grand duke lost everything...and thought that the last solution is the rewind magic. If he did it for himself, well it's more believable. He's a scum.
