I want to install apps on my phone (doesn't matter which), but many of them have very intrusive permission requirements.
I see no reason for any app to gain pointless access to my Id, contacts, photos, SD card etc.

What I would like to know:
    - are these permissions given automatically?
    - is there any way to block them? (default phone options are just SMS/MMS, the rest don't show)
    - how is the information being sent? And can I download the app, shut net access during installation, use it as needed, then uninstall still offline without the info being sent?

Basically, I want to use the apps, but deny intrusive permissions. Can it be done? And how?

    Thanks

The latest androids can just disable the permissions.

Unless you get root access to your current phone, with root access you can control the privileges on earlier versions too, I think. Not entirely sure. Rooting voids warranty and carries some risk.
