I'm looking for a good novel that focus on wars, armies. I want a mc who leads an army or a unit that uses tactics and his brain. I'm good w/ any genre except yaoi. Something like: my father in law is lubu, nobuna and step into the past.

Well, LMS counts I guess, for a small part (Legendary Moonlight Sculptor) Purple River (Good read, chapters here and there tho, group is called Easy Going so....it's to be expected.)
A Step into the Past is a classic novel about a modern soldier skilled in kungfu being transported into China's Warring States period (just before the first unification of China by the Qin Dynasty). It focuses more on wuxia, sexing women and political intrigue though, not a lot of actual commanding of armies. The MC did train a select unit of men in modern techniques and carried out assassinations and other subterfuge. The series is completely translated and is one of the earliest stories I've read in the transported/transmigrated/reincarnation genre (it was published in 1994). http://www.novelupdates.com/series/a-step-into-the-past/

I wasn't even aware the LoGH novels are being hosted here. If I can only pick one anime to bring with me to last forever, the anime adaptation of LoGH would be it. It's a cross of the Three Kingdoms with Napoleonic battles in space, 110 glorious episodes of space warfare, tactical combat, political intrigue and power struggle between a decaying monarchy which is run by by bad men and a inefficient democracy which is badly run. Game of Throne's politics is nothing compared to this. GoT depends on the shock value of people dying left and right and the western audience isn't used to such a thing, but LoGH has followed the steps of Romance of the Three Kingdoms long before that (it was published in 1982).
@rdawv I find it purely coincidence just look up all novel list hosted in NU who know you will find another hidden gem
