I stopped reading it after a couple of chapters (at least for now), and all I know for sure is that MC's younger brother is a bro-con. He doesn't like ML and basically threatened ML with a knife for MC. (Like, my gosh child. You're like 10 or something. calm your bro-con-ness a little) MC found out about it though. ML seemed amused by all of it. ML is just a possessive towards MC. He's also a barrel of vinegar. So much vinegar. He's pretty attached to MC. MC goes mother hen on ML because of his health (disability?(legs?). Don't remember). ML enjoys the attention very much. Though, he can't drink as much alcohol because MC is watching him like a hawk. I remember nothing else.
So where I'm at, CH 64, is when they have developed solid feelings toward each other. Both the MC and ML are reincarnated, meaning they've lived into a future of their current life. They have not admitted it to the other but most of their plans for counterattack unintentionally work well together. The MC is in charge of the Chu family accounts and also has his blue fabric business. MC golden finger is an economic book that provides great applicable knowledge on business dealings. The ML has a gadget filled wheelchair and has started a secret organization to root out those that have targeted him. The ML is sick due to a 10year plus poison. The ML showed appreciation for the MC in the last life and so wants to treat him well in the current life. The MC looks back on the last life as what not to do and wants to treat the ML like the asset he is, and soon becomes invested in having ML be healthy and happy. Since they have mutual respect and admiration of each other, they have a good understanding of the other and that is the basis of their growing love. Can't answer the rest as I haven't got there yet
Summary of the translated chapters so far: MC = shou = Xie Tingyue ML = gong = Chu Mu Historical setting where both MC and ML are reincarnated into their past selves, a few days before MC's to be married to ML. Spoiler: Background Between MC and younger bro, MC is the son of Mother Xie's handmaiden (because Mother Xie was believed to be infertile), while younger bro is Mother Xie's son. MC was raised happily, by both Mother Xie and his biological mother. However, due to his biological mother's passing at the hand of mountain thief, and Mother Xie's passing after giving birth, younger bro was raised by MC. Father Xie turned out to be a slagman that actually fostered 2 children out of wedlock, with his first love. After his wife's passing, he brought back the woman and their children into the Xie house. The first love (translation: Lin) was a vicious lady, she schemed for the MC to be married off using his mother's remaining property as his dowry, and also harming the younger brother by making him seriously ill. Before MC is married off, he was served a drugged soup which will make him behave in an embarrassing manner before the groom's welcoming group. This time around, MC didn't drink the soup, and held onto the "Great Power Economy" book which became his golden finger. The soup was laced with aphrodisiac. Ohh, sorry, not detailed enough. They have the same father, different mothers. Basically MC's mom offered up herself to bear an heir for the Xie family, because her mistress was not able to do so.
So ML isn't the eldest son, but rather the nephew. It's revealed about the second to last chapter. Everything is rooted in the MC's granduncle from his mother's side. Seems to be a transmigrator that was paired with the emperor who retired early. He deliberately erased himself from history to not cause great waves but had many many admirers. The root/red organization is among many that wanted his power/knowledge and was after the Great Power Economy book that could only be seen by his blood relative. Red/root org killed MC mother since she showed no signs of being an economical genius and were lying in wait for the MC to inherit the book and utilize the knowledge. The switch that made ML believe in last life that he was the eldest prince was also planned by red/root org. ML fell in love with MC last life under his secret identity with the mask, called QiQi? Mentioned in earlier chapters. By the last chapters emperor and crown prince worked with MC and ML to bring down red/root org. Successful but ML is poisoned and has to recuperate for a year away from MC. Turns out it was a ploy from ML and miracle doctor so that he could do physical rehabilitation. Happy reunion but MC cried because he realized he was tricked. ML was acknowledged by the royal family, Chu family realized their Booboo and killed 2nd aunt. ML mother who treated her "son" coldly realized she was alone and her real son had already died. MC family had eldest son marry an abusive wife who could not have children and so tormented her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law but raised MC little brother up well.
So other interesting characters and lovey dovey moments: MC family has younger stepsister YS and older stepbrother OS. ML has a close friend that mtls as Road ML has manservant named PingQing? There is an imperial uncle that is being hunted by the red org YS visited the MC n ML for a manor party that MC was in charge of. Since MC isn't one to hold parent's actions against kids who haven't wronged him, he accepts YS visit. YS makes herself useful for the purpose of visiting ML courtyard and overly praised MC to wish them a happy life together. YS says things to induce good feelings from Road, who is visiting ML and is hiding in the background. Then off she fritters thinking job well done. ML calls her actions out to Road and tells him he is an idiot for believing that bunch of bull. MC gets told of YS visit to courtyard and comes over to make sure nothing happened. Road reads the situation as jealousy and is thinking he is getting fed dog food so complains at ML. ML tells Road that unless he has a wife, he will have a lonely bed, table, and life and so shouldn't bother others in their happiness. He will be a single dog forever. MC thinks that ML and Road share a friendship were they like to hurt each other with metaphorical knives. Laaaater on, past Ch 67, ML confesses to MC and offers him his secrets. Very sweet. MC is super flustered and tells him he has to think about it. On OS, he is a dumbass and has no redeeming features. MC and ML meet him on the way to an upcoming disaster area, wooing this girl that mtls as soft girl. SG has a cousin fiance and OS expounds on why he is so much better. MC and ML thinks OS is a fool playacting. OS insults MC and ML gets his manservant PQ to beat him up. OS repeats behavior some more and gets beaten up again, with the last time being hung up naked from a tree branch. Everyone surrounds OS to comment on his small dong. The imperial uncle is being hunted by red org and MCnML get rained arrows on as a result first time at an inn. Two incidents happen. Imperial uncle runs to ML asking for help the second time.
What happened in MC's last life? ....from what it seems he didn't marry successfully right? Also what was his step mom reaction when she realized he was happily married?
He was humiliated via drug from stepmom in first life. It was vague in MTL but I think he still married ML but with a lot of controversy because of his drugged actions. Zhen_qing above has the details. He didn't live a good life because he wasn't successful in fighting against his stepmom. His little brother drowned and became sickly. ML suffered consistent setbacks in his sickness as well. ML was more angry and fell into red org trap with his identity. Road died in an incident as well. To sum up, red org plans worked well in the last life and both MC and ML suffered continuously as a result. MC died helping ML as QQ without knowing his identity. Stepmom had a fit Then on the bride visit home MC brought his culprit would be rapist to act as evidence against stepmom. ML came as support and ensured smooth trial. Stepmom lost her rights to managing the manor and MC brought her replacement Luo mama to manage in her place.

ML is technically a prince and recognized by the royal family. The imperial family is one of the most cooperative I've seen. MC granduncle taught everyone to get along and to train a worthy emperor that had the nation's interests in mind. The ML was switched out for safety reasons and his father is noted as being a good man protecting the borders. Since the book can only be seen by a blood relative of the granduncle, the red org can't get it without the MC.
Another face slapping moment for the stepmom. SM made a deal with a merchant to suppress MCs business. The plan was to hinder the cloth dying formula by acquiring key ingredients and then selling them to the MC at high price. The MC counterattacked by spreading false news that he needed a grass rather than the silk farms for his cloth business. The merchant bought all the grass and the MC playacted his frustration. Meanwhile MC made a deal with the local silk farm that he negotiated with on good faith because of 3 events. First event involved a salt mine contract that Chu family had off the books and had become a hot potato. Second event involved the flood disaster that MC n ML knew about and had prepared aid in advance for. Third event was the MC helping the silk farm owner negotiate for more silk farms when one of the family members didn't want to move his silk worms for safety measures. So merchant made a fool of himself and lost a lot of money. The MCs stepbrother also thought he could profit and bought into merchant's schemes. It all fell on their heads and merchant scrambled for money to pay off debts and creditors. Stepbrother fled and merchant lambasted SM for funds, citing the SB as a degenerate. SM had no money and so the merchant told stories to ruin her reputation.
On the younger stepsister. The YS advised her mother to take the blame for the SB, causing her reputation to hold up as being virtuous. Then the YS became fiances with a businessman that had bothered MC before. The BM was a sadist and had a previous wife die from his abuses. The YS did not know this information but soon experienced it for herself. The BM allowed the YS To do business for herself as a reward for holding up to his "affection" and love. The YS set out to cause trouble for MC in the business arena. She set her goal on bringing the MC down and having him beg her for mercy. I actually really dislike all the abuse and awful things that happened to the YS because of the BM. She was a beautiful, IQ and EQ intelligent, situationally conscious young woman who ended up throwing herself into fire because she learned from her mother and was against the MC. She didn't have any good ending. The BM made her believe she was pregnant and he was poisoned. Since she held the future heir in her belly, she couldn't wait for him to die. At the end, the BM was colluding with the red org to have her kidnap the MCs younger brother. Since she failed, the BM told her the truth and she went crazy and fell into delusions. I disliked her as a person but I liked a lot of YS' qualities. She had a lot going for her.
Funny thing noted by imperial family. When the MC and ML meet the emperor and first prince, emperor remembers MC granduncle and previous emperor. GU and PE were romantically involved and MC and ML mirror their relationship. ML refused to have others in MCs eyes. MCs lil bro is tolerated since ML considers him as MCs son. PE felt the same way about GU, specifically on the rest of the royal family he taught. ML and PE are/were giant walking vinegar pots. Emperor thought that certain relational characteristics certainly breed true.
