Yes, it was said that ML became blind. He'd been blind for over 6 years. Although he was blind, he was able to expand his family business by 10x. It was also mentioned that ML apparently didn't see ori!host when he was in a coma because he wasn't in the country at the time. ML explained this to MC after their first encounter. Even though he looks cold, he's actually pretty cute (imo). When he asked MC to come home with him since they were married, MC noticed the tips of ML's ears were red. When ML took MC to his villa, MC asked which room should he sleep in. ML was slightly confused and asked, aren't they married? MC didn't understand what ML was trying to point out. Everyone knew there's no feelings between them, and they haven't even really talked to each other much either, so how can they sleep in the same room? MC felt that his words might hurt ML but he still told him "we're only married, you have your own life, I have mine..." ML took a few steps then faced towards MC. He then asked MC if he disliked him because he doesn't have any martial arts. His cold face then showed grievances. In response, MC reassures him that he doesn't dislike him, he actually admires him. Mm, I'm reading/MTL-ing this one right now. MC = 1st life is sect master who sacrificed himself for sect (wuxia world) = capable and OP shou ML = blind young master (modern world) = looks helpless but actually strong gong Basically, MC self-destructs to save his sect and takes down the enemies with him. When he dies, he finds he's transmigrated into a rich silkpants young master who got in a car accident and landed himself in a coma. MC is quite familiar with this modern world and has no trouble navigating because ever since he was young, he dreamed of the life that this other person (body in modern world) led. MC's goal is to enjoy himself now that he's free of the responsibilities of being sect leader. We see him being an extreme foodie a lot. One of first things he did after going out of hospital was to buy cake (but a thief interrupted him halfway through cake, sadly). MC deduces that orig!body's accident was planned by someone (probably dad's 2nd wife). ML meets MC shortly after the cake incident and they have a discussion about the betrothal/marriage. ML looks like an ice cube but he's actually really sweet inside -- as @vsukio mentions, his ears turn red when he talks about intending to take care of & protect MC.

ML is in reality a pretty cold, ruthless, and strong person. He's only playing at being weak and pitiful in front of MC, at first probably to test him, and then later because he falls in love and uses this acting to better gain MC's attention/sympathies. Spoiler: The hidden backstory as revealed later in the story. ML used to be the team leader of a special government task force made up of cultivators and dealing in the supernatural. Six years ago, he was investigating some kind of foreign organization that was infiltrating into their society. He was able to find out that these people were looking for information on MC's original host. And because he found out too much, he was targeted by the bad guys, and betrayed by infiltrators in the government/task force, which led to how he almost got possessed, and ended up sacrificing his cultivation and eyesight to seal the ghost inside himself, and thus becoming a "waste". After falling from grace and building up a new life as a corporate boss, he still wanted to know what was going on with the mysterious group he was investigating. And that was why he talked to MC host's dad and agreed to marry the original host. Unfortunately, the second day after their marriage, MC host crashed his race car... Which wasn't actually a "accident". The car was tampered with, and in the confusion, the heirloom necklace from his dead mother went missing (dun dun dun). Afterwards, ML went overseas to chase/investigate the people who caused the accident, which was why he didn't visit MC at the hospital. Later on, the necklace comes back into MC's hands, mostly because whatever secret it has is sealed up under layers of expert formations. Neither the bad guys nor their unknowing patsies could figure out how to open it. As it turns out, MC's mom was from a hidden lineage of formation experts. While MC host never learned anything from his mom's side, the new transmigrated MC is a formation expert, and when he began to show off his formation expertise, he got the attention of the bad guys along with the rest of cultivation society. MC also finds out that the villain boss was the demon lord that he died fighting back in his previous life. They had both transmigrated, but the villain boss arrived in the world first, around a century(?) ago. The cultivators of that time fought him and sealed him up. MC host's mom's ancestor was the formation expert that created the seal, and the only one to come out of it alive. He then changed his name and hid his lineage from the eyes of the cultivation society, each generation living as if they were normal non-cultivator people. The necklace he brought out with him also contained a fragment of the demon lord's soul, which, now sealed away from the demon, would continue to weaken him and prevent him from breaking out. However, the demon could still influence people in the outside world, making devils bargains with them and eventually building up the evil organization that has been looking for the necklace ever since. Spoiler: The start of the relationship between ML and MC I don't think ML was in love with MC's host at the time they married. At that time, I think he was half using MC to continue investigating the mystery that led to his betrayal. However, after MC woke up in the original host's body, his personality underwent a big change, which was of course suspicious. (I'm pretty sure his family subtly tested him to make sure he still had the right memories and wasn't possessed, but MC didn't notice.) So ML played the pity card in order to rile up current MC's protective and dutiful instincts, to get close to him and find out what's going on. Of course, he didn't count on being attracted by MC's current personality. And when MC detected the weird power sealed inside ML, he transferred some spirit power into ML to investigate. When ML's spirit touched MC's spirit, ML also immediately felt the connection of two very compatible spirits (in terms of dual cultivation), and was definitely unintentionally seduced. That is, his mind went to the gutter and he started calculating how to seduce MC into bed. As time went on and the two of them spent more time with each other, both of them started letting down their guard and showing more of their true selves. So it could be said that they fell in love together, even if it's usually ML that took the first steps into breaking the paper window, so to speak.
Finished! Spoiler: spoiler ML will gain his sight slowly after digesting the power entrapped in him and causing him to go blind. Step Mom is a rarity in this novel as she is truly good one and sincere. And so is the step brother. Step brother is a brat but when MC started to change because of soul change, the step brother too started to like him, as MC was polite to his mother and give face to his maternal grandparents family by attending their party and stuff.

Spoiler Going off from MTL struggles so sorry if any information is incorrect. ;; MC's cousin, his father's brother's son. He actually had good relations with ori!host, especially since ori!host mother also raised him before her death. The main reason why he helped cause the car crash was because the man behind the scenes threatened to harm his (the cousin's) mother's life. The man who was actually behind the car accident didn't really want ori!host life per se, but rather he wanted ori!host's mother's necklace he was wearing due to wanting to know what it unlocks. He eventually does lose interest though because he was more interested in fixing his relationship with ori!host's cousin (he actually loves him but wasn't good at showing it so he often raped him until he realized how wrong his actions was (raping + threatening his mother's life) after consoling with his subordinate...
Spoiler: Actually... That guy was a patsy being used by the villain organization. He was led to believe that the necklace held a key to a secret realm, and his people (he's the head of a big unorthodox guild) actually took the necklace off the first batch of people (probably more patsies) who took it off MC after the crash. So technically he didn't cause MC's crash but just took advantage of it, along with MC's cousin who found out about him having the necklace. MC's cousin probably thought he was lying about not being responsible, and blamed him for MC's accident, as well as for later blackmailing him into spying on MC after the necklace was given back to him. Of course, MC by that time had already found out about this. And had also accidentally "watched" one of the rape sessions, which traumatized him (MC was a total innocent who had no idea that MM sex was a thing before that) against the physical side of dual cultivation for a long time. Spoiler: Everyone does get comeuppance? So after MC found out about his cousin being forced, and after MC had already shown off and made a splash in the cultivation community, he basically gives the big brother talk to the guy and tells him to stay away from his cousin. The guy keeps trying to get back together with the cousin, but the cousin keeps rejecting him (now with backing from MC and ML so he can't be forced anymore). Though, his mother somehow finds out, and is enraged. She was actually an agent sent by the villain organization to get into MC's family so as to investigate MC's mom. But she got pregnant by MC's uncle by accident, and ended up having the baby to cement her family position. However, since the uncle didn't like how she tricked him into marrying her, he basically stays in closed cultivation all the time, leaving her to raise the cousin all by herself. And thus her son became more important to her than her previous loyalties, and she was afraid what would happen to him if villain boss was freed. Anyway, so the mom used her previous villain org ties to try and kill off her son's rapist/suitor. However, it didn't succeed because the cousin still had some feelings (stockholm?) for the guy and raised the alarm, causing MC to get there in time to rescue the guy. This also revealed the mom's ties to the organization. And she ended up betraying the org and giving info to MC. As punishment, the villain boss captured her and used her as hostage to get MC to open the necklace and release his soul. MC stalls for time while ML gets people ready from outside to storm the base. When time is up, MC releases the soul fragment and attacks while the demon is still weak and not yet assimilated the fragment. The demon spirit tries to possess the cousin's mom as hostage again. But she swallows some pills that were created to boost mental powers at the cost of one's life, and then attacks the soul fragment, preventing it from being merged with the demon, and basically ends up sacrificing her life to destroy the fragment. Afterwards the demon boss and his lackeys are killed. The cousin arrives and takes away his mom's corpse, and then disappears for many years. By the time he turns up again, he's a famed weaponsmith, and lots of people curry favor with him. His original rapist/suitor still keeps on trying to get his attention and he still ignores the guy...goes on until they're in their 50s, before cousin finally relents and allows the guy to stay and become his assistant, and later his lover as long as he quits his original guild. He tells himself he's using the guy for the dual cultivation benefits since his innate talent is only mediocre, but it's up to the reader to decide if he really still has feelings for the guy.
Spoiler: necklace The story of the necklace is, MC's current body's maternal forefather took part in the 4 or 5 nations efforts to seal the devil (the villain) and every one taking part in the sealing ceremony sacrificed themselves apart from MC's current body's forefather who stole a part of the devil's soul and sealed it in the necklace and ran away. The necklace traveled generation to generation till it reached current MC's body as his mother's death wish was. And the necklace had a very difficult array on it, which MC had seen in his dream in another world and also searched for the solution of the array. So when MC got the necklace he knew how to open it but he didn't rushed it and that event took place at the very end of the story. There is also some back story about ML's mother. Both MC and ML's mothers were special in their heritage Spoiler: ML's mother ML's mother was daughter of the previous leader of the demon sect. And the current leader being afraid of ML's superb qualifications, and to save his seat as a leader, wanted him dead. Or so I got from mtl.
