But apparently there isn't too many drama/angst/problems(?) and that there's a good amount of happy moments for MC and ML. Ancient harem setting worries me because there is more angst can-they-get-together than fluffy relationship development. This looks interesting though. Especially if there isn't as much drama as the MC+ML moments.
I have read the first few and last chapters - MC's mother was a prostitute. Dad redemed her from brothel once she got pregnant. She and MC lived outside. Mum died and Dad was forced to take him in. Because of his mother's identity, everyone in the family ignored him. Thry also badmouthed him. As a kid, MC cried but he was scolded by the maid. Since that he learned that crying was useless. - when he was fifteen, his eldest sister from dad's legal wife got married to ML as princess consort. MC was sent along as dowry maid, dashing his hope to break free from the family. When the sister entered through the front door, he and other maids entered through back door. - ML already had a son from his side wife, a boy named Jing er. He also had few concubines. - the sister got pregnant. ML told MC that he was going to have a nephew. MC replied that he wasn't. He was going to have a master's son. - ML treated MC nicely. But it made sister angry. Her mother also fanned the fire, saying that mC was going to follow his prostitute mother's step. Since she was pregnant, she couldn't serve ML so she arranged for MC to sleep with ML. When MC heard that, he felt that his whole wold turned black. Ever since he was born he had no control over his life. It was like having a rope around his neck, choking him to death. He thought of his mother and his life, crying in silence. And she was rich, but her inheritance was stolen by the legal wife. (I'm not clear to her real identity since I skipped the novel) - sister passed away. Good riddance. She didn't care about her daughters at all and even tried to drug ML to sleep with her so she could have son to keep her position. At this time, MC was pretty much the ruler of the house. - ML had five children, two sons and three daughters. Three of them (2 sons 1 daughters) were taken care by MC. From the very beginning ML didn't want the mother to take care of their own child because he wanted them to grow up as siblings instead of enemy. He was right. Each mother tried to pit their own son against the other. - ML became emperor in the end and MC became his empress. ML held a grand wedding for MC and he himself went to pick MC. A feat that no emperor ever did for their bride in the history. His grandmother asked him and ML replied that, ever since he was born he was wronged by everyone. So I will treat him right.'
I feel like I've been lied to and in turn lied to everyone. There's a good amount of drama from what I'm seeing here. I hope they meant that there's little to no drama between MC & ML and not that there's little drama in the story overall.

AHHHHHH.....the angst, poor MC, nah i can't read it. I know he got to be empress by the end by omg ancient setting with an already established harem and ML having actual relations [sex] with them and MC the has to raise their kids too...in a sense he can't have his own kids but then idk i guess he's a white lotus since it seems he doesn't' mind that? >_>: I guess i'm not so kind, not like i'd kill them or anything, but seeing how my kids are like highly energetic monkeys and i'm barely restraining myself from running away on those type of days, they are cute when they're not so hyper tho, but still other people's kids, even if it's the kids of someone you love or one's own niece [the mother being someone one doesn't like anyway]...i'm not sure if i can tolerate it...but then again if it's the case of me not being able to conceive then i'll consider it....such a tangled problem here...anyway to avoid getting frustrated I'll just not add this one to the never-ending queue.
I'd have been more pissed that he got to bang a bunch of women and have kids with them and then change his taste to a man, but the MC had to be with him from 15 y.o. (! like how old is the ML actually), without losing his virginity to a woman first, without getting to have his own progeny. It's majorly unfair that MC lose his chance at living an ordinary man's life from such a young age. I hope ML actually considered letting MC go to live his life, with the MC actually being a pushover and choosing to stay with ML, instead of ML not even bothering to ask. Anyway, not the worst plot ever, but not my type of read. I think it'd be interesting to read and the drama would keep me going, but I'd rather go through some other novels first.
Oh well, since he can get it up for women and had a bunch, I'd color him bi then. Anyway, it was said in jest. I still feel bad for the young MC tho.
Can i get more details? When was MC told to serve the ML by the sister? Are they already in relationship when ML went to war? What happened to the wicked legal mother and elder sister?
