Feature Request Block minors from seeing NSFW novels/content while logged in.

I'd like a feature where minors are automatically blocked from viewing nsfw novels while under age on their accounts depending on the country they live in.

I'd like this feature because it seems a bit odd for some of the 15/16 year olds I've seen on this site to be viewing stories like that, thanks.

 

How would you know who's a minor? Not everyone gives their d.o.b when they join

 

I've seen a few who are age 15 on this site.

The solution would just be to block accounts that are under age in the country they register in.

 

One way to do this is to hide nsfw titles unless marked otherwise in the profile settings. Many sites have a similar process.

 

I don't see us forcing people to reveal their ages simply to block them from seeing things. On top of that, the determined ones would make a clone just to say they got around it anyway.

That is not unusual at all. Many are younger even. NU may have 'inappropriate' novels, but have you noticed that NUF has no tolerance toward NSFW content? Just report anything you see!

I would prefer a way to create a list of blocked titles (or tags such as Adult) in general.

 

Release and series filtering exist. I guess tag filtering might be nice though.

 

It's not that I disagree wth your idea, but on the contrary I think it is very noble. But sadly, like many other noble ideas its implementation is a huge problem,
Alright in an example, the website says anyone under 18 is not to see this content, to verify whether you are even 18, at most Nu will require a sign up/in with d.o.b 18 or above. But can't those minors just give in fake d.o.b. What this will do is only piss off some people who hate signing up and increase the number of members for Nu.
Although if you can think of other authentication methods to verify age, the idea would start to seem allot more plausible.

Even if you ask, since this is a site dedicated to fiction to begin with, you shouldn't expect more truth. Especially from the minors, ladies and the hunters. Also don't forget the immortals.
No matter how big the question you may ask, the same answer still suffice.

 

Haha, it would just make things frustrating for normal members while fixing nothing.

In other news, did you know you can highlight text and a reply option will appear? I only found out a week or two ago... So much easier than replying to the entire post!

 

I have to tell you, I didn't believe at first, but it did appear. Highlighting text from iPad is more of a hassle than clicking on reply button though.
On the side note , more than members, the staff will have a bigger mess to deal with. 'Hey it seems I gave wrong d.o.b, can you help me change it' and more blah blah, you will have to think then, whether to allow members change their d.o.b once they have entered it by themselves or request, and if you do allow them to change however they like, what's the purpose of having it altogether.

I like to separate out my replies like this for blocks of text. It's easier for me to just highlight one part, rather than try to isolate just the [ QUOTE="Member, post: #####, member: #### ] to copy paste it and break things up.

You can enter your d.o.b. now in your personal information. Some do.

Yup! Completely optional! Even the brightest genius can have moments. Don't sweat it.

 

Nothing's odd with 15/16 y.o. reading NSFW. There are plenty around. Even if they're being obstructed by some means, they'll just bypass it. Even if the translator/author give explicit warning "right here's adult content", for some people that will just be like advertisement.
