I've got a pretty good memory of the basic plot, but I can't remember the title. The MC is honestly a bit dumb, but he's hardworking and good at fighting (eventually). It starts off with him activating this keepsake from his mother I believe, in which he can use it to master techniques, and there was this odd scene where he had to dig through this cloud like substance. Anyways one of the other defining traits is that he ends up with a mechanical ostrich like ride which was the cavalry from the keepsakes past. There are multiple worlds in a galaxy where you could get treasures which were produced from the systems.
Found it, I decided to trudge through the series finder for a while, if anyone was curious (not too likely). The series was Undefeated God of War.
