We can take this a step further: VNs are like marriage. You start off excited because they look great, sound great, and/or have an enticing plot to get you hooked. Some have additional "gameplay elements" that are varied from VN to VN, sorta like fetishes. You start one and binge it like a honeymoon and you go at it for a long time. Some are short while others are long (hey divorce rates across the globe are increasing these days you know) and for the longer ones you eventually start having less and less interest as they become more tedious to play.

Eventually you start looking elsewhere for a new VN kinda like how the stereotypical cheating husband is in a lot of JP stories go: you become more and more busy with "work" neglecting your wife but you're really just spending time taking care of your side-chicks or living a second life with your other wives. You might occasionally decide to go back to a long forgotten VN that's still installed on your computer out of nostalgia or something but most are left forgotten but there are times when you rekindle your marriage and play them like mad just like you used to. But unfortunately in the end, they will once again be forgotten and eventually you'll throw them away and truly divorce them (uninstall) from your house (HDD) so you can make room for your new wife. Sure you might leave a couple of photo albums or something lying around (save files) but most would be forgotten forever.

I can probably make this whole thing a lot longer but I'm sure I'm getting my point across. That whole uninstall = divorce thing really feels like a true representation of the ends of a marriage, non?

I have been off the crack for awhile now. I've returned to reading *real* books now, some chinese romance novels are okay~good and a couple of JP LN's. But xianxia/xuanhuan? I'm done. It just feels like they're all the same- horrible writing, repetitive, zero characterization, plot armor as plot device... the list goes on.

They seems attractive and unique at first , but later you realize that they are same like all others
At first you enjoy time spent togher with them but later it starts to annoy you gradually
