I don't think the novel ever explains why it's a game setting so unless its explained in the side stories we can only speculate. In the past timelines, Penelope always dies and never reaches it to the end. But Yvonne also never completes her mission fully as I believe Vinter always snaps out of the brainwashing and sacrifices himself to turn back time to give their world another chance. Yvonne never made the connection that Vinter was the wizard who kept foiling her plan until Penelope tells her he's a wizard which is why I believe she says "it comes out like this." It's not that the world necessarily is dependent on Penelope's existence but as she's a descendant of the ancient wizards, she's the only one who is able to defeat the Yvonne. So without her, they have no one powerful enough to defeat her and the world ends because of it.
I imagined the game setting is to act as a guide for Penelope to help her save this world. As she had no success in previous lives, the game setting is almost like an instruction manual for her on how not to die, gain her powers, and gain others trust which she needs to defeat Yvonne. As to how she reappeared in the game world after being reborn in Korea, maybe it's one of cliches were her soul wasn't stable in the Korea world and she was pulled back to the game world as that's her 'real' world. Honestly I'm just speculating at this point

1. Penelope and Emily are walking through the garden. She no longer has escorts but Emily is closely watching her. Everyone is watching her closely as they're concerned she might drink poison again. She also notes that since their conversation, Vinter hasn't came back to the estate and wonders whether he doubts Yvonne. They arrive at a remote part of the estate where there is an incineration. Since waking up the system had given her a quest to keep the mirror shard in a safe place. She finds it funny that she's doing it even though she's already decided to leave the estate. She has been trying to figure out how to keep it safe but thinks the best option is to just destroy it. She tries to burn it alongside her poison but the shard is unharmed. She reaches in and takes it just as Eclise calls her from behind. The hides the shard behind her back and turns to him.

2. Penelope notices that he's covered in blood but tries to leave. He blocks her exit. She asks whether he forgot that she'd told him she'd treat him like he's dead. She asks whether he broke out of prison. He tells her he was released but when he heard she was poisoned he tried to get into the estate several times so they locked him up again. When he heard that she was awake her broke the prison door down. She tells him its best he returns quietly. He continues telling her that he's no longer a slave but a commoner now so he can be her knight and take revenge for her. She asks who that was. And begins to list off everyone in the Eckart estate names including some she never heard before. She's terrified that he memorized them. He says he had a lot of time to reflect be he knows she doesn't want to leave her warm life and title so he'll give her the dukedom or even the empire if she wants. All she needs to do is give him permission and he'll handle it. Penelope can't listen to it anymore and tells him didn't he hear it was her own drama. He tells her he knows the people in the house forced her to do it but she denies saying it was him who made her do it. He made her die. She admits to herself that it wasn't because of him alone but she enjoys seeing his normally expressionless face distorted. She then describes to him how exactly the poisoned killed her. How within seconds her heart felt like it was on fire and then she stopped breathing and blood flowed out of her like a fountain. That the poison attacked her blood vessels so she was dying from blood loss. Even when she lost consciousness she was still bleeding. She satisfied to see his despair thinking now he tasted the same feelings she felt when he betrayed her. She continues saying that if she thought she'd see his face again then she wished she had die. She tells him him that he knew she had a reason for buying him yet he betrayed her and brought back Yvonne. So should she fall into a miserable situation like himself or the slaves he had killed. She wonders whether hard mode failed because of Eclise but thinks it's her own fault due to her poor judgement. She thinks maybe Eclise is innocent as she was the greedy one who drove him to do this. But she's weary that she doesn't have the power to fight the game's story or a brainwashed Eclise. He tells her he thought she would be kicked out of the house when he brought back Yvonne and that she'd have no one else to rely on but him. He says he can kill Yvonne and put everything back together but she tells him that he has to die. But he doesn't want to die and will do whatever she wants if he can be by her side. He puts the ruby ring back on her finger saying he'll even act as a dog or never say the word love but please don't throw him away. He's crying and Penelope feels swayed. She runs her hands through his hair and then cuts the collar around his neck thinking this is the last consideration for her only knight who betrayed her. She tells him she's not his master anymore and to ask his new owner. Yvonne is standing in the door. Yvonne says she heard he disappeared so she tried to find him. Penelope quickly walks away from his grasp as he calls out "Penelope" but is help back by Yvonne. Penelope leaves.
3. Yvonne asks him did he get the piece but realizes he didn't. Eclise says she wants him dead so he has to die. Yvonne stops him by asking even if Penelope and Callisto are engaged soon? Can he really die and leave her to marry Callisto and have his child. She tells him she's already sent Callisto north so the engagement couldn't go ahead but he's a strong warrior and will return. So can Eclise really die. Eclise says he wants Penelope and wonders what he can do to get her back. Yvonne says he has to give her the empire - after all he is a prince. His people are still waiting for him. She then holds the glowing mirror in front of his eyes again and Eclise remembers his past of being an illegitimate son of the king who wasn't discriminated against and unlike his other brothers he had heavy duties. When they were defeated his name was removed from the registry and he hid as a slave. Yvonne tells him to go north and kill the prince and he can take the empire and Penelope. Eclise tries to say Penelope wouldn't want that and Yvonne thinks it must be because the mirror is incomplete that he's able to weakly rebel. But she continues saying that Penelope wants a warm life and asks how long she can last in this house. He can stop her from being unhappy. Eclise agrees saying that she's unhappy every day because of them. He agrees to help Yvonne.

4. Yvonne thought things would be easier than in the past but everything had changed. Penelope was now able to use powerful magic and the others cared for her. But to make matters worse Penelope had stolen the other piece. She knows Penelope must have recognized her in the cave and feels anxious. She thinks there's no time and things that Eclise is a foolish prey desperate for Penelope's love. She decides she has to act directly.

5. Penelope removes her hand from her mouth and is tightly clutching the mirror piece. She was hiding in the warehouse attached to the incinerator and listened to their conversation. She quickly returns to her room and orders Emily to get a hammer. Despite hitting the piece with all her strength it's undamaged. She tells Emily to take the piece to Vinter and to not let anyone see her. She asks her to tell Vinter to hide it in a place no one knows about until she comes to get it. She then tells her to also tell him to do what he did the night they returned from the island (i.e. wipe Emily's memories). She warns Emily to be careful and thinks she needs to get out of here. Emily returns that evening and Penelope confirms that her memory has been erased. Now all that's left to do is escape.

6. Penelope can't sleep. She sneaks outside to confirm were the doggy hole is and discovers it has been filled in. She asks where it has gone and someone tells her it's no longer there. They ask what she is doing and she mentally thinks she is trying to escape. She turns and sees Reynold and screams. She asks what he is doing up at dawn and he asks her why she's looking for the doggy hole at dawn. She realizes he knows. He asks her if she's going to get off the dirt. She asks if he will tell father but he asks if he tells him, will she stay? Penelope mutters lets just die again. Reynold shouts that she barely survived and Penelope tells him if he doesn't want her to die then not to tell father. Reynold grabs her wrist and tells her to follow him. He shows her a new place she can sneak out of and I think he tells her Derrick had the other hole filled in. He asks if she's really leaving and she tells him honestly that she hasn't decided yet. He asks if he leaves will she stay. The Duke said to him that Penelope would never give up with wanting to run away. He says because she hated him for so many years, if he goes will she stay? She agreed that she did hate him. He then talks about the coming of ceremony and shows her nail mark scars on his arm. He then tells her how he thought she was joking at first. The day before his coming of age ceremony he fell off a tree outside her bedroom and pretended to be dead. Because she cried so much the father cut down the tree. He continues saying that when Vinter said she was poisoned he couldn't believe it. As she lay unconscious for that week he wanted to give her anything she wanted and had called the servants. But nobody knew what she did, where she went or who she met. He wonders how they can be paid to know nothing of their owner. She thinks it's because he made it that way but doesn't dare say it out loud. He thinks he done so many bad things to her including framing her with Yvonne's necklace. He wants to apologize but how can she accept it. He wonders if he treated her like family would she still be this way. She thinks that if he had done more for 'Penelope' she wouldn't be dead. She can't forgive him because she's not Penelope. Penelope realizes he's crying. He tells her not to go out in public alone and ask him if she needs money. He says to go to a mercenary guild and hire an escort. Stay in a hotel not an inn. Only use enchanted weapons or scrolls. She realizes he's planning her getaway. She waits with him until he stops crying.

7. When she goes back to the room she thinks of what she needs to run away. She decides she needs money so she'll go to Vinter first. The butler arrives with the emerald mine report. She tells the butler she wants to head out. He asks whether she's checked with the duke. She asks to request it from the Duke. The Duke allows it but invites her to lunch - just the two of them. He asks if she's okay as the doctor says she still needs to recover. He tells her that since she had her coming of age ceremony she will always have the Eckart name but if she wants to leave the family he will let her. She says Derrick will definitely object but the Duke points out he is still the duke so what can Derick do. She asks him how much he believes in Yvonne. Her memories still haven't returned so he won't publicize it until they're back. She then warns him to look in the teacup when he is with Yvonne which confuses the Duke. She knows Yvonne won't let her away with this but she doesn't want to leave the Duke alone to be brainwashed. She tells him she's not feeling well so she'll leave but turns to him and warns him to be careful with Yvonne.

8. Penelope and Yvonne's confrontation. Penelope arrives back to her room and sees a maid going through he drawers. The maid is wearing a hat and a cloth mask over her face. Penelope asks her to leave and sighs in relief as she reaches the door but the maid asks why she keeps looking in the mirror. Penelope mentally screams. She tells her it's out of curiosity that she has no reflection and then says 'Yvonne.' Yvonne smiles and then says she knew. Penelope asks if she's going to throw away the pretense in front of her and Yvonne asks if she's also going to do that. Is she going to continue to pretend she doesn't know who she is. Penelope comments that she was the one who stood in front of the mirror and Yvonne tells her she wasn't expecting her back so soon. She says it's annoying to be back and nothing is going her way. She asks how Penelope came back. Who is she as she's different from the Penelope she knows. She comments that it's different as Penelope should be jealous of her by now and trying to kill her. Even without brainwashing, Penelope couldn't stand the family's attention to Yvonne. Penelope realizes that Yvonne also has come back. Yvonne tells her that family were delicious causing a shiver to run down Penelope's spine. Yvonne continues saying that for someone who doesn't remember the past she acts like she knows everything and has been avoiding her. Penelope says she seen her on Soleil island. She asks why she hasn't told anyone about her and if she's scared this time. Penelope asks her if that's important. She's already told her before that she doesn't care about her purpose and to do whatever she wants because Penelope is leaving. Yvonne says no because everything is broken because of Penelope. The brainwashing isn't working. I've already described the next couple of scenes (there fight, maids arriving and Penelope's escape) so I'm going to skip to the next event. I will however say that during their exchange that Yvonne asked her how she could use magic which Penelope denies saying it wasn't her. Yvonne asked if it was the magician who was at Soleil with her and Penelope asks her whether she meant Vinter. It was a setting in the game that Yvonne never realized Vinter was the wizard. Yvonne muttered that it comes out like this and Penelope realizes she needs to go to Vinter now.

9. Penelope arrives at Vinter's office. She immediately asks Vinter for her money who tells her to wait a moment cursing. He asks her what she's talking about and please sit down. She tells him she has no time and needs her money. He asks her why she's shaking like that and she realizes now that the anger has passed she's scared. He tells her to sit down and he'll lock the door. He sets tea down in front of her and asked what's happened. She debates whether to spill everything to him but pushes it down saying it's nothing and there's something she needs to buy. He asks if she's running away. She remembers his concern that she'll disappear once Yvonne came back. She's then worried that he will ruin her escape plan. She knows it's delusional but she's already experienced it with Eclise and doesn't want to be stuck waiting for the day she dies. But he shocks her by asking her where she's going and he'll help. She asks him whether the piece is safe which he confirms and she asks him to give it back. Yvonne's brainwashing was too strong and now that she knows what Vinter is..Vinter refuses as it's too dangerous for her to have and asks did she bring it back from Soleil. He's furious she didn't tell him she had such a dangerous thing. She asks him whether he knows what the mirror of truth is and he's dumbfounded that she knew of it. He then asks her to follow him and she gets a quest to go to his secret space.

10. He then explains that the mirror of truth was used by the ancient wizards to seal the Layla. The Layla who had absorbed millions of lives became monsters that could no longer be called human. They need a host to possess in order to exist but the host isn't perfect. Penelope then asks whether they no longer have a reflection in water or mirrors. He asks how she knew that in amazement but she keeps walking. He continues with the story and says that the number of human victims continued to grow so the wizards used their lives as a last resort to seal the Layla into tools. That is the mirror of truth. She recognizes the mirror as the same one she had seen in her dream. But this is only a replica that Vinter was making to defeat the recently emerged Layla and not the real one. She asks about the children and he tells her he's moved them to a safe house. She sees a crack in the mirror and Vinter explains that the Layla had attacked the mirror of the wizards and successfully succeeded in destroying some of it. However the mirror still worked and they managed to seal the Layla. The mirror was the spread throughout the world in 15 pieces but he has recently learned that the believers had been exploiting the pieces as they can be used to brainwash people with their worst fears. Penelope thanks him for letting her know but she needs her piece and the money. He tells her no again as he's already warned her that the Layla are dangerous. She sighs and takes out Yvonne's mirror piece and shows him. He asks whether it's also from Soleil but she tells him no she took it from a Layla earlier. She was brainwashed in the mansion and only just managed to escape. Vinter is horrified and blames himself for involving her in this. She doesn't think it's really his fault as it's more the games storyline. He asked who is was.. who would dare hide in the Duke's territory and then stops as he realizes it was Yvonne. Penelope tells him she confirmed it with the tea cup and mirror and it's up to him to believe her. She tells him the piece is safer with her but he tries to tell her he'll take care of everything. But she tells him she can't believe in him.. Layla brainwashes and he believed Yvonne was better than anyone. He then grabs her wrist again and asks her to follow him again.

11. He takes her to a flower pot with a purple bud. She asks what it is and he reaches and pulls it up. The mirror piece is hidden in the roots and he tells her this place is connected to his subconscious so if he is taken over by the brainwashing and dies everything here will disappear. He then hands her the flower. As she takes it, the flower blooms into a purple rose. Vinter stares at the rose. He tells her when they got back from Soleil island the rose had bloomed but he couldn't understand why. If it's a rose, it normally means love but a purple love is even more vague. Perfect love or imperfect love. He says he stupidly didn't know why it bloomed and what his feelings were. The petals then begin to fall off the rose. he then tells her when he went to her house he realized he had ruined everything. He removes the mask and she can see he is crying. He begs her that even if she can't trust him, please leave the piece with him. He says it's better that the keep the pieces separate as she'll be search for them. He'll try and find a way to defeat her but won't get in Penelope's way. She accepts. He asks where she will go and she tells him north. She feels sorry for him but she had to lie. Although she is worried about Callisto, she won't die and in order to win she must never reveal her location. She'll go north after the quest is over. She sees it as her way of brainwashing. Vinter comments that if he offers to take her she'll refuse but she asks him to save Emily. He promises to take her to the safe house. She thanks him and apologizes. He understands what she means. The petals have completely fallen off the rose. Vinter gives her money and magic maps so she can teleport. She warns him to be careful and she gets a system message. She has gained his trust with the reward being the purple rose. She thinks bitterly that he had given her his trust but lost his love instead.

12. As Penelope tries to leave the alleyway she sees the Eckart crests. The knights have been released to find her. She panics an tries using the scroll but she gets a system message giving her an error and there is a strong magical tie stopping her from using the scroll. She thinks this is crazy and it's really like a stupid game. She panicking wondering what to do and takes out another scroll. She feels a chill take over her and looks up and makes eye contact with Derick who's face is distorted. She pleads that he doesn't recognize her. She has nowhere to go and walks further into the alley and tries to say the magic spell but he calls out her name. She tries to pretend he has the wrong person but he tells her that it's magic that he engraved so how could he not recognize her. He wished he would have been deceived once but he always has to play in her play. His face is drenched in sweat and she notices his favorability gauge is now a red color. But she thinks this isn't her job and tries to take a step back to give her enough time to tear the scrolls. He begs her not to go. He tells her that he's not feeling well (I think) so where is she going. Please don't be angry anymore and he won't question anything so lets go home. He then begs her "Please Penelope." She thinks the sweat on his face looks like tears. She tries to take a step back but he calls her again to come here. She asks why she has to follow his orders. She asks was it not enough that he tried to kill her once, but now again? He tries to ask why would he kill her but she tells him to admit he seen everything that day. She thinks it's a big mistake if he thought he didn't say anything because she didn't know. He seen the cup exchange between Yvonne and Penelope. He who hates to admit it that he brought Yvonne and she tried to commit suicide. He asks her why only to him. Even when she's mad if he gave her a gift she would smile prettily again. Even to Reynald who she fought so badly with but why.. Why does it feel like she's getting further away from him. She realized then his thoughts and also how to drop him to hell. She tells him it's because he doesn't like it. She think it must have been since he gave her the scarf and it explains his unknown behavior of giving her gifts. She tells him she hates that she'd rather die than see him so spend his life hugging his little sister, assh*le (not 100% sure if it's hugging she's saying). She tears the map and teleports as he tries to catch her.

It was never given a formal explanation.
It’s just one of those unavoidable game events that make life hard for Penelope. Now that it’s her coming of age and the start of Normal Mode, the appearance of Yvonne makes everyone’s interest for Penelope go down.

But we find out the % isn’t an end-all. it’s just a number. For example, Callisto’s percentage went down but his feelings and trust with her don’t change at all. But definitely we see some conflicts/distrust with the other male leads...

After she woke up she entered into 'hidden mode.' Also from a character point of view, it looks bad that they still held her coming of age ceremony despite Yvonne's return and then having not invited her. If Penelope hadn't quickly saved the situation by making it seem they always planned to have Yvonne appear at the reception, the Duke's and Penelope's reputation would have been completely destroyed as it would have seemed like she was the evil daughter trying to hide the happy news of her sister's return to have her own party.

Ooh I like your idea! I interpreted it as Yvonnes official appearance at her coming of age was the end of Hard mode, and the beginning of Normal mode (both events giving her the penalty because of the transition to Normal mode and her failing to capture anyone). I didn’t think the drop in interest was from trying to hide Yvonne, since all the characters knew about her existence several days prior. In that case her reputation would drop but not necessarily the interest. Poor Penelope lasted probably less than 15 minutes before she died, but at least Secret Mode gives her a chance again

1. Penelope arrives on the same beach she had been on previously when the Leyla followers kidnapped the children. She overhears sailors complaining and who try to shoo her away (she's still disguised as a man). She asks if anyone is travelling to Archina island. The sailors refuse because of the monsters but when she tosses some gold behind her they accept. She's watching the island with a telescope debating whether it's safe for her to go. She thinks she's fine as Yvonne is in the capital. The former captain of the ship (she bought it) tells her they'll depart at 3am as there should be less activity then but wants to know why she'd go to such a dangerous place. She asks them do they remember how Soleil island disappeared in a day a few months ago and tells them how it was the middle ground for the Leyla remnants to travel from Archina to Tratan (where she currently is and where she was helping Vinter volunteer to feed orphaned children). She then tells the sailors that her master had been the one to cleanse that island and she insinuates that's what she's going to Archina to do. The sailors are terrified but tell her they'll do their best.

2. As she waited, she purchased a mask and robe to cover her face and then passed her time in an inn. She did debate the hotel like Reynold suggested but decided not to as the village was dangerous. Time passed quickly and she boarded the ship. As she waits, she passes time in the captains room and takes out her magic map she found with Callisto. He then admits that it's a replica of her map that recognizes her as the owner. A thunderous realization comes over her. He panics and tries to tell her it was an accident that happened when they were inscribing the replica but she calls him a pervert stalker. He tells her a stalker between lovers. She tells him he's suffering delusions and should return to the palace and find a hospital. He cuts her off with a kiss and tells her she only knows how to say bad things. Penelope steps back shocked and covers her mouth to keep him out. Her face is burning. She wonders why he's doing this when he only wanted to be partners but the warmth in his eyes and his bright smile made her heart shake.

She asks him didn't he want to be the perfect emperor. He tells her it's pretty good if she takes over the empire. She says she's not joking but he just asks can he just be there (with her). She realizes as she stares at his face that he's not brainwashed. She nods and the heart she thought she had killed begins to beat again

But Callisto then pauses and says no this is the Leyla tomb. As Penelope looks up she recognizes it's similar to the room Vinter showed her and then sees the mirror. She begins to run towards it. Monsters begin to attack and Callisto fights them off telling her to go first. She gets to the mirror and touches it triggering the quests completion and offering to show her the truth. Light bursts out of the mirror and Callisto screams out to her.

A brutal battle ensued but the Leyla were becoming more powerful - they were stealing life. The Leyla attacked the ancient mirror and managed to break a small corner of it into 15 pieces. Some of these pieces were hidden in the tomb of the golden dragon. But despite the attack, the mirror still activated and sealed the the spirits of the Leyla. But one young Leyla survived hiding deep underground. This Leyla grew seeking revenge. It overtook different bodies but the more lives it stole the more it lost its essence. A voice jumps in saying "to be perfect you must go to the imperial palace." This Leyla collected the scattered the pieces of the mirror and deceived its prey. Fortunately the curse on the wizards had weakened them (shows scenes of wizards being murdered). Then one day the Leyla found the perfect body for entering the young palace and grew into a beautiful young girl. She begun to spin her web and catch her prey with one of them taking her back to the house. But in the house was a young girl named Penelope were the ancient blood of wizards still flowed. She instinctively tries to warn against Yvonne and tries to kill the leyla but because of the curse she is rejected by the people and fails, easily dying. Yvonne then becomes engaged to the prince and enters the palace. She uses the strong vitality of the fang to become the perfect immortal and releases the other Leyla from the mirror. The world falls prey to the Leyla with no wizards to protect them, it is destroyed. The end of normal mode.

9. The story continues! There was one sorcerer who survives the catastrophe. He who was released from Leyla's brainwashes uses the last of his strength to go to the mirror of truth. He sees that Penelope who was killed, was the only one who could stop Yvonne and so he sacrificed his like to turn back time. It cuts to scene of Vinter crying in regret in front of the mirror saying it was all because of his foolishness and he will pay the cost of the sin with his soul. As he shouts the spell white light bursts from his eyes and the light draws magic circles around him. He body begins to burn. The world becomes trapped in time where the only way to move forward is to defeat Leyla. But the stupid Penelope continues to die. But she suffers countless deaths and her soul crumples and disappears like powder. Penelope does not return and the world stops. Eternity has past and a very small piece is reborn in another world. That's you! You are the only one who has lived without dying until now and will save the world from destruction.

10. Penelope then gets a quest to uncover the real villain. But she wonders why she still needs to wander in the game as hard mode is over. She didn't want to live in fear of being killed by the game anymore and wonders why it matters to her if the world is destroyed. Just give it to Yvonne. The game tries to prompt her saying she could save lives but she asks why she should care about others lives when she's already dead and been forced into this place. She wonders if her real body is already dead and why she's been dragged into this hell. The system then shows her a video of her real family in the hospital with her.

When she is prompted again to accept the quest she does as she realizes the ending is going back to her real world. The system also awards her a wand that she can now use ancient magic with but warns that it requires a lot of metal and body power so use only when necessary. The system then gives her one final message from the ancient wizards - she has been able to maintain the mirror with her money. She tries to curse them

He hugs her and picks her up like a baby and takes her out of the underground tomb. She notes he's killed all the monsters. He asked her if she's okay and then tries to wipe away her tears - she struggles but he wins and she lets him. After she calms down he tells her he won't ask but she decides to tell him. She tells him she's not Penelope and she woke up one day as her. She tells him she thought if she listened to what the ancient wizards wanted her to do she could go home but as days went by she couldn't see then end and she couldn't handle it so tried to die but she couldn't even do that. Callisto asks why she wants to go back but she she says does she need a reason. But then she wonders why does she want to go back. School was wasteful. And then she tells him of her studying archaeology. How their family was poor so she'd go to the museum because admission was free and then go home and list all the artifacts she seen to her mum. Her mum told her she could be an archaeologist and always praised her in her studies. Callisto says he reasons are similar. His mother was going crazy because of her husband and had told Callisto to become emperor. So he decided he would do it for his mother. He's decided that he won't throw away the position as prince when he heard her story. That way if it's magic or archaeology she wants to do, he can let her. He asks her not to think about going back and stay with him. He realized after her rejection how much he disappointed her to the point she was willing to drink poison. He wonders if her school only taught her how to do bad things. He then tells he her loves her. Whether she's Penelope or not it doesn't matter. She struggles to believe but he tells her he's sorry he couldn't say it before but he was scared. His father had told his mother he loved her but deceived her. So after going through all that struggle to become emperor, Callisto wondered what he would do. He grew up distrusting people and guarding against temporary emotions. So he thought have a contract relationship would be easiest but that thought ended with Penelope. He admits to her he's been interested in her since the night in the labyrinth and he couldn't think of her without laughing like a mad man. He wanted to meet her again and speak to her but she kept rejecting his invitations which frustrated him. He then tells her even though he knew she'd hate it, he kept a sword on him every time he visited her room after the poisoning. If she died, he planned to kill himself because he didn't have the confidence to live in this hell without her. But also tells her if he's too late that it's fine and if she wants to go back do, and forget him. She hits him and starts crying as her emotions are a mess. But she is happy and excited from him saying he loved her.

13. She tells him she can't give him the answer he wants which he accepts. She then tells him he said he'd do anything for her. She then tells him she's going to kill Yvonne and shows him the wand. He jokes that she would be better off with a better weapon. She then tells him when she does this they may not be able to be together anymore and if he still loves her. He tells her he will follow her wherever she disappears to. Just like today, he'll follow her. He then repeats that he loves her and they kiss. A very long kiss

The sailors are terrified but tell her they'll do their best.

2. As she waited, she purchased a mask and robe to cover her face and then passed her time in an inn. She did debate the hotel like Reynold suggested but decided not to as the village was dangerous. Time passed quickly and she boarded the ship. As she waits, she passes time in the captains room and takes out her magic map she found with Callisto. In order to get to Baltar (where the mirror of truth is), she needs to be within range to teleport there. That's why she bought the ship so she can teleport there as soon as she's close enough. The map still isn't showing anything yet so she covers it and thinks even though hard mode is over, this game has never been easy. The ship begins to shake violently and she falls to the floor screaming. When she reaches deck she's greeted with a quest asking her to defeat the kraken - the reward being life. The sailors beg her for help. She begins cutting and burning the Krakens legs at random with her wind and fire magic but the number of legs doesn't decrease. Instead they increase from 8 to 14. She realizes for every leg she cuts off - two more grow. As a leg comes for her she thinks this is then end and closes her eyes. She hears someone call her princess and opens her eyes to see golden hair and the leg cut off the monster. Callisto asks her why she's staring and to burn the leg quickly. She's embarrassed but does it (2/14 legs). The monster is furious and wraps itself around the ship tilting it. This causes items to come loose and a barrel knocks one of the sailors into the ocean. As she begins to fall Callisto catches her with one arm and and hoists her onto the cockpit. She asks him to put her down but he tells her to do another spell. She instinctively says another spell that hurts the kraken and it releases the ship. Callisto tells her well done and puts her down. Now that she knows how to defeat it she begins cutting off the legs and burning them with Callisto giving her backup.

Penelope's heart hurts so much she can't breathe. Callisto removes her mask and she asks how he knew it was her. He tells her, how could he not? If it's a battlefield or a conference hall he'd find her. He took his hands from her shoulders and began wiping away the sea water on her face. Her heart is shaking and her eyes begin to burn. He asks if she's hurt but she says no and then smells blood. She notices the bandage on his hand and then scolds him. Was the earring cuff she gave him just for show? But he refuses to use it because it would be a waste. As she tries to scold him again he suddenly pulls her into an embrace and rests his chin on her head. She tries to struggle but he tells her, now she knows his feelings. So don't do it again and then he buried his face in her hair. She remembers how Emily told her how he held her hand every night and never left her side. She thinks it is too late and she should push him away but she can't put it into practice. The arms that are holding her have stolen her breath and she's shaking. Suddenly a sailor calls out to her and she panics and pushes Callisto away. The sailors announce they're arrived at Archina island.

He came over smirking asking her wasn't she going to Archina. She snatches the paper from his hands and realizes it's an exact replica of her map - with a dot that represents her location. She then recalls how he appeared on Soleil island. She asks how come he has a map with her location but he tries to deny saying it's telling them his location. He then admits that it's a replica of her map that recognizes her as the owner. A thunderous realization comes over her. He panics and tries to tell her it was an accident that happened when they were inscribing the replica but she calls him a pervert stalker. He tells her a stalker between lovers. She tells him he's suffering delusions and should return to the palace and find a hospital. He cuts her off with a kiss and tells her she only knows how to say bad things. Penelope steps back shocked and covers her mouth to keep him out. Her face is burning. She wonders why he's doing this when he only wanted to be partners but the warmth in his eyes and his bright smile made her heart shake.

Callisto asks to go together but she refuses saying he needs to go back to fighting the rebellion. He refuses and tells her this is more important to him and he doesn't need her permission to go to Archina as he has a replica map. She tells him he doesn't know the words and he swears. He asks her to take him too. She then calls out the spell.

He tells her she doesn't need to know and that it's not important to her anymore - after all, she's already escaped the Duke. She thinks that he realized that he that he can't be the one to save her now that she's escaped. Now that she's escaped, she's lost her purpose and reason to survive and she's wonders what is important to her right now. As if reading her thoughts, he tells her what's important is that whatever she is trying to do is what he is trying to do. He then mocks her asking if she's going to revive the Leyla. She asks him didn't he want to be the perfect emperor. He tells her it's pretty good if she takes over the empire. She says she's not joking but he just asks can he just be there (with her). She realizes as she stares at his face that he's not brainwashed. She nods and the heart she thought she had killed begins to beat again

7. They make their way through the temple carefully and come across a lot of bones. At first they think they're from the people that Leyla followers kidnapped and experimented on. But Callisto then pauses and says no this is the Leyla tomb. As Penelope looks up she recognizes it's similar to the room Vinter showed her and then sees the mirror. She begins to run towards it. Monsters begin to attack and Callisto fights them off telling her to go first. She gets to the mirror and touches it triggering the quests completion and offering to show her the truth. Light bursts out of the mirror and Callisto screams out to her.

8. It gives her the opening credits to the game. A golden dragon once ruled over the world which lived in peace and harmony. At the end of its life it left behind one fang for the humans. Darkness sprung from the ground calling themselves gods. They formed a country and brutally slaughtered the humans however they were defeated by the ancient wizards. A brutal battle ensued but the Leyla were becoming more powerful - they were stealing life. The Leyla attacked the ancient mirror and managed to break a small corner of it into 15 pieces. Some of these pieces were hidden in the tomb of the golden dragon. But despite the attack, the mirror still activated and sealed the the spirits of the Leyla. But one young Leyla survived hiding deep underground. This Leyla grew seeking revenge. It overtook different bodies but the more lives it stole the more it lost its essence. A voice jumps in saying "to be perfect you must go to the imperial palace." This Leyla collected the scattered the pieces of the mirror and deceived its prey. Fortunately the curse on the wizards had weakened them (shows scenes of wizards being murdered). Then one day the Leyla found the perfect body for entering the young palace and grew into a beautiful young girl. She begun to spin her web and catch her prey with one of them taking her back to the house. But in the house was a young girl named Penelope were the ancient blood of wizards still flowed. She instinctively tries to warn against Yvonne and tries to kill the leyla but because of the curse she is rejected by the people and fails, easily dying. Yvonne then becomes engaged to the prince and enters the palace. She uses the strong vitality of the fang to become the perfect immortal and releases the other Leyla from the mirror. The world falls prey to the Leyla with no wizards to protect them, it is destroyed. The end of normal mode.

9. The story continues! There was one sorcerer who survives the catastrophe. He who was released from Leyla's brainwashes uses the last of his strength to go to the mirror of truth. He sees that Penelope who was killed, was the only one who could stop Yvonne and so he sacrificed his like to turn back time. It cuts to scene of Vinter crying in regret in front of the mirror saying it was all because of his foolishness and he will pay the cost of the sin with his soul. As he shouts the spell white light bursts from his eyes and the light draws magic circles around him. He body begins to burn. The world becomes trapped in time where the only way to move forward is to defeat Leyla. But the stupid Penelope continues to die. But she suffers countless deaths and her soul crumples and disappears like powder. Penelope does not return and the world stops. Eternity has past and a very small piece is reborn in another world. That's you! You are the only one who has lived without dying until now and will save the world from destruction.

10. Penelope then gets a quest to uncover the real villain. But she wonders why she still needs to wander in the game as hard mode is over. She didn't want to live in fear of being killed by the game anymore and wonders why it matters to her if the world is destroyed. Just give it to Yvonne. The game tries to prompt her saying she could save lives but she asks why she should care about others lives when she's already dead and been forced into this place. She wonders if her real body is already dead and why she's been dragged into this hell. The system then shows her a video of her real family in the hospital with her.

11. Penelope now knows she has gastric cancer and feels miserable that she relieved to see her family at her bedside. She wonders why the system is showing her this now. When she is prompted again to accept the quest she does as she realizes the ending is going back to her real world. The system also awards her a wand that she can now use ancient magic with but warns that it requires a lot of metal and body power so use only when necessary. The system then gives her one final message from the ancient wizards - she has been able to maintain the mirror with her money. She tries to curse them

12. Callisto catches her in his arms as the mirror crumbles. The moment she touched the mirror a carrier appeared and he couldn't touch her. He then notices her wand and then that she's crying. He hugs her and picks her up like a baby and takes her out of the underground tomb. She notes he's killed all the monsters. He asked her if she's okay and then tries to wipe away her tears - she struggles but he wins and she lets him. After she calms down he tells her he won't ask but she decides to tell him. She tells him she's not Penelope and she woke up one day as her. She tells him she thought if she listened to what the ancient wizards wanted her to do she could go home but as days went by she couldn't see then end and she couldn't handle it so tried to die but she couldn't even do that. Callisto asks why she wants to go back but she she says does she need a reason. But then she wonders why does she want to go back. School was wasteful. And then she tells him of her studying archaeology. How their family was poor so she'd go to the museum because admission was free and then go home and list all the artifacts she seen to her mum. Her mum told her she could be an archaeologist and always praised her in her studies. Callisto says he reasons are similar. His mother was going crazy because of her husband and had told Callisto to become emperor. So he decided he would do it for his mother. He's decided that he won't throw away the position as prince when he heard her story. That way if it's magic or archaeology she wants to do, he can let her. He asks her not to think about going back and stay with him. He realized after her rejection how much he disappointed her to the point she was willing to drink poison. He wonders if her school only taught her how to do bad things. He then tells he her loves her. Whether she's Penelope or not it doesn't matter. She struggles to believe but he tells her he's sorry he couldn't say it before but he was scared. His father had told his mother he loved her but deceived her. He then tells her even though he knew she'd hate it, he kept a sword on him every time he visited her room after the poisoning. If she died, he planned to kill himself because he didn't have the confidence to live in this hell without her. But also tells her if he's too late that it's fine and if she wants to go back do, and forget him. She hits him and starts crying as her emotions are a mess. But she is happy and excited from him saying he loved her.

13. She tells him she can't give him the answer he wants which he accepts. She then tells him he said he'd do anything for her. She then tells him she's going to kill Yvonne and shows him the wand. He jokes that she would be better off with a better weapon. She then tells him when she does this they may not be able to be together anymore and if he still loves her. He tells her he will follow her wherever she disappears to. Just like today, he'll follow her. He then repeats that he loves her and they kiss. A very long kiss

Awww I'm melting watching their sincere and heartwarming interaction! Yess all Penelope's struggles, tho some is heart-and-soul-breaking, it's really worth it with Callisto genuine and true feelings for Penelope that he would chose her over the emperor title he has been living for. I think over the course of the system, at least Callisto's percentage bar is only displaying in favor to ease up or in line with the system function but didn't truly reflect on how he feels for Penelope. It's true that his feeling is a slow and steady growth towards Penelope but then again, the up and down number didn't have any effect to that growth as he described to Penelope how he is falling for Penelope slowly. It's really good to see Penelope to get what she deserve, the best that is! ><

1. Penelope arrives on the same beach she had been on previously when the Leyla followers kidnapped the children. She overhears sailors complaining and who try to shoo her away (she's still disguised as a man). She asks if anyone is travelling to Archina island. The sailors refuse because of the monsters but when she tosses some gold behind her they accept. She's watching the island with a telescope debating whether it's safe for her to go. She thinks she's fine as Yvonne is in the capital. The former captain of the ship (she bought it) tells her they'll depart at 3am as there should be less activity then but wants to know why she'd go to such a dangerous place. She asks them do they remember how Soleil island disappeared in a day a few months ago and tells them how it was the middle ground for the Leyla remnants to travel from Archina to Tratan (where she currently is and where she was helping Vinter volunteer to feed orphaned children). She then tells the sailors that her master had been the one to cleanse that island and she insinuates that's what she's going to Archina to do. The sailors are terrified but tell her they'll do their best.

2. As she waited, she purchased a mask and robe to cover her face and then passed her time in an inn. She did debate the hotel like Reynold suggested but decided not to as the village was dangerous. Time passed quickly and she boarded the ship. As she waits, she passes time in the captains room and takes out her magic map she found with Callisto. In order to get to Baltar (where the mirror of truth is), she needs to be within range to teleport there. That's why she bought the ship so she can teleport there as soon as she's close enough. The map still isn't showing anything yet so she covers it and thinks even though hard mode is over, this game has never been easy. The ship begins to shake violently and she falls to the floor screaming. When she reaches deck she's greeted with a quest asking her to defeat the kraken - the reward being life. The sailors beg her for help. She begins cutting and burning the Krakens legs at random with her wind and fire magic but the number of legs doesn't decrease. Instead they increase from 8 to 14. She realizes for every leg she cuts off - two more grow. As a leg comes for her she thinks this is then end and closes her eyes. She hears someone call her princess and opens her eyes to see golden hair and the leg cut off the monster. Callisto asks her why she's staring and to burn the leg quickly. She's embarrassed but does it (2/14 legs). The monster is furious and wraps itself around the ship tilting it. This causes items to come loose and a barrel knocks one of the sailors into the ocean. As she begins to fall Callisto catches her with one arm and and hoists her onto the cockpit. She asks him to put her down but he tells her to do another spell. She instinctively says another spell that hurts the kraken and it releases the ship. Callisto tells her well done and puts her down. Now that she knows how to defeat it she begins cutting off the legs and burning them with Callisto giving her backup.

3. Callisto calls her name and she realized she forgot about the crazy prince who followed her here. She doesn't understand how he got here as they're in the middle of the sea. She asks him why isn't he in the north. He grabs her shoulders asking her if the rebellion is a problem right now and why is she alone in such a dangerous place. As soon as he heard she had disappeared he immediately returned to the imperial palace. He asks her why she drives him crazy like this with fatigue and rests his chin on her forehead. Penelope's heart hurts so much she can't breathe. Callisto removes her mask and she asks how he knew it was her. He tells her, how could he not? If it's a battlefield or a conference hall he'd find her. He took his hands from her shoulders and began wiping away the sea water on her face. Her heart is shaking and her eyes begin to burn. He asks if she's hurt but she says no and then smells blood. She notices the bandage on his hand and then scolds him. Was the earring cuff she gave him just for show? But he refuses to use it because it would be a waste. As she tries to scold him again he suddenly pulls her into an embrace and rests his chin on her head. She tries to struggle but he tells her, now she knows his feelings. So don't do it again and then he buried his face in her hair. She remembers how Emily told her how he held her hand every night and never left her side. She thinks it is too late and she should push him away but she can't put it into practice. The arms that are holding her have stolen her breath and she's shaking. Suddenly a sailor calls out to her and she panics and pushes Callisto away. The sailors announce they're arrived at Archina island.

4. The prince asks if they're going now while looking at a piece of paper in his hands. She's confused and asks him if he knew where she was going. He came over smirking asking her wasn't she going to Archina. She snatches the paper from his hands and realizes it's an exact replica of her map - with a dot that represents her location. She then recalls how he appeared on Soleil island. She asks how come he has a map with her location but he tries to deny saying it's telling them his location. He then admits that it's a replica of her map that recognizes her as the owner. A thunderous realization comes over her. He panics and tries to tell her it was an accident that happened when they were inscribing the replica but she calls him a pervert stalker. He tells her a stalker between lovers. She tells him he's suffering delusions and should return to the palace and find a hospital. He cuts her off with a kiss and tells her she only knows how to say bad things. Penelope steps back shocked and covers her mouth to keep him out. Her face is burning. She wonders why he's doing this when he only wanted to be partners but the warmth in his eyes and his bright smile made her heart shake.

5. Penelope throws away her robe and masks as they're now a hindrance and gathers her things. She gives gold to the sailors to compensate them. She then looks at her map and tries to decide where to go. Callisto sees what she's doing and tell her he had magicians scout the island before and tells her the place is likely in the center of the island. But that the island is a vast wasteland and if you start wandering there's no end. The system then tells her the magical words to transport there. Callisto asks to go together but she refuses saying he needs to go back to fighting the rebellion. He refuses and tells her this is more important to him and he doesn't need her permission to go to Archina as he has a replica map. She tells him he doesn't know the words and he swears. He asks her to take him too. She then calls out the spell.

6. The arrive in the desert and see the temple in the distance. The prince wraps his cloak over her head to protect her from the heat. She finds it strange how he prioritizes her. They stop on one of the sand dunes and she asks him why he doesn't ask her anything. About why they're here or what's happened. If he went back to the palace he might not have heard her story. He confirms that he heard that the adoptive daughter of the duke beat the real daughter and then fled. He tells her Derick is searching for her. He continues by telling her to do whatever she wants - even if she wants to beat and kill Layla. But just let him be by her side. She tells him she doesn't understand why he's doing this. He tells her she doesn't need to know and that it's not important to her anymore - after all, she's already escaped the Duke. She thinks that he realized that he that he can't be the one to save her now that she's escaped. Now that she's escaped, she's lost her purpose and reason to survive and she's wonders what is important to her right now. As if reading her thoughts, he tells her what's important is that whatever she is trying to do is what he is trying to do. He then mocks her asking if she's going to revive the Leyla. She asks him didn't he want to be the perfect emperor. He tells her it's pretty good if she takes over the empire. She says she's not joking but he just asks can he just be there (with her). She realizes as she stares at his face that he's not brainwashed. She nods and the heart she thought she had killed begins to beat again

7. They make their way through the temple carefully and come across a lot of bones. At first they think they're from the people that Leyla followers kidnapped and experimented on. But Callisto then pauses and says no this is the Leyla tomb. As Penelope looks up she recognizes it's similar to the room Vinter showed her and then sees the mirror. She begins to run towards it. Monsters begin to attack and Callisto fights them off telling her to go first. She gets to the mirror and touches it triggering the quests completion and offering to show her the truth. Light bursts out of the mirror and Callisto screams out to her.

8. It gives her the opening credits to the game. A golden dragon once ruled over the world which lived in peace and harmony. At the end of its life it left behind one fang for the humans. Darkness sprung from the ground calling themselves gods. They formed a country and brutally slaughtered the humans however they were defeated by the ancient wizards. A brutal battle ensued but the Leyla were becoming more powerful - they were stealing life. The Leyla attacked the ancient mirror and managed to break a small corner of it into 15 pieces. Some of these pieces were hidden in the tomb of the golden dragon. But despite the attack, the mirror still activated and sealed the the spirits of the Leyla. But one young Leyla survived hiding deep underground. This Leyla grew seeking revenge. It overtook different bodies but the more lives it stole the more it lost its essence. A voice jumps in saying "to be perfect you must go to the imperial palace." This Leyla collected the scattered the pieces of the mirror and deceived its prey. Fortunately the curse on the wizards had weakened them (shows scenes of wizards being murdered). Then one day the Leyla found the perfect body for entering the young palace and grew into a beautiful young girl. She begun to spin her web and catch her prey with one of them taking her back to the house. But in the house was a young girl named Penelope were the ancient blood of wizards still flowed. She instinctively tries to warn against Yvonne and tries to kill the leyla but because of the curse she is rejected by the people and fails, easily dying. Yvonne then becomes engaged to the prince and enters the palace. She uses the strong vitality of the fang to become the perfect immortal and releases the other Leyla from the mirror. The world falls prey to the Leyla with no wizards to protect them, it is destroyed. The end of normal mode.

9. The story continues! There was one sorcerer who survives the catastrophe. He who was released from Leyla's brainwashes uses the last of his strength to go to the mirror of truth. He sees that Penelope who was killed, was the only one who could stop Yvonne and so he sacrificed his like to turn back time. It cuts to scene of Vinter crying in regret in front of the mirror saying it was all because of his foolishness and he will pay the cost of the sin with his soul. As he shouts the spell white light bursts from his eyes and the light draws magic circles around him. He body begins to burn. The world becomes trapped in time where the only way to move forward is to defeat Leyla. But the stupid Penelope continues to die. But she suffers countless deaths and her soul crumples and disappears like powder. Penelope does not return and the world stops. Eternity has past and a very small piece is reborn in another world. That's you! You are the only one who has lived without dying until now and will save the world from destruction.

10. Penelope then gets a quest to uncover the real villain. But she wonders why she still needs to wander in the game as hard mode is over. She didn't want to live in fear of being killed by the game anymore and wonders why it matters to her if the world is destroyed. Just give it to Yvonne. The game tries to prompt her saying she could save lives but she asks why she should care about others lives when she's already dead and been forced into this place. She wonders if her real body is already dead and why she's been dragged into this hell. The system then shows her a video of her real family in the hospital with her.

11. Penelope now knows she has gastric cancer and feels miserable that she relieved to see her family at her bedside. She wonders why the system is showing her this now. When she is prompted again to accept the quest she does as she realizes the ending is going back to her real world. The system also awards her a wand that she can now use ancient magic with but warns that it requires a lot of metal and body power so use only when necessary. The system then gives her one final message from the ancient wizards - she has been able to maintain the mirror with her money. She tries to curse them

12. Callisto catches her in his arms as the mirror crumbles. The moment she touched the mirror a carrier appeared and he couldn't touch her. He then notices her wand and then that she's crying. He hugs her and picks her up like a baby and takes her out of the underground tomb. She notes he's killed all the monsters. He asked her if she's okay and then tries to wipe away her tears - she struggles but he wins and she lets him. After she calms down he tells her he won't ask but she decides to tell him. She tells him she's not Penelope and she woke up one day as her. She tells him she thought if she listened to what the ancient wizards wanted her to do she could go home but as days went by she couldn't see then end and she couldn't handle it so tried to die but she couldn't even do that. Callisto asks why she wants to go back but she she says does she need a reason. But then she wonders why does she want to go back. School was wasteful. And then she tells him of her studying archaeology. How their family was poor so she'd go to the museum because admission was free and then go home and list all the artifacts she seen to her mum. Her mum told her she could be an archaeologist and always praised her in her studies. Callisto says he reasons are similar. His mother was going crazy because of her husband and had told Callisto to become emperor. So he decided he would do it for his mother. He's decided that he won't throw away the position as prince when he heard her story. That way if it's magic or archaeology she wants to do, he can let her. He asks her not to think about going back and stay with him. He realized after her rejection how much he disappointed her to the point she was willing to drink poison. He wonders if her school only taught her how to do bad things. He then tells he her loves her. Whether she's Penelope or not it doesn't matter. She struggles to believe but he tells her he's sorry he couldn't say it before but he was scared. His father had told his mother he loved her but deceived her. So after going through all that struggle to become emperor, Callisto wondered what he would do. He grew up distrusting people and guarding against temporary emotions. So he thought have a contract relationship would be easiest but that thought ended with Penelope. He admits to her he's been interested in her since the night in the labyrinth and he couldn't think of her without laughing like a mad man. He wanted to meet her again and speak to her but she kept rejecting his invitations which frustrated him. He then tells her even though he knew she'd hate it, he kept a sword on him every time he visited her room after the poisoning.
