i see people mentioning the forbidden. i thought we all agreed that DB:E doesn't exist. we don't speak of it and try to forget it existed, except as a reminder. frankly i knew the american live action was gonna be a failure, it's sad to say but the time of intelligent shows is long past, now every tom/dick/harry writer just spits out some shit script and people just go with it.
Yeah. Wouldn't it be cool if they make a movie about Hitler found the Death Note and started the WW2 with it while the alliance desperately trying to stop him; a supreme dictator with supernatural power to control death. Come on Hollywood, make it come true.
if it was me, i would have change the theme. (haven't seen the movie yet) The manga and anime theme, i think was about was light god or not. It was L job to prove that light wasn't all powerful. I would have made the movie about how killing evil people doesn't change the world for the better.Instead of light wanting to be a god like figure, he is actual a good guy that wants to change the world for the better. Yet all he is doing is making things worst, and it is up to L to show that what is light is doing is wrong. For example killing a evil dictator isn't going to stop other dictators. And killing an evil dictator might make things worst for everyone. because now there is a power vacuum and everyone wants to be the new evil dictator.
Not watched it and likely won't, but I would say that the whole idea to adapt the original plot and characters into a western setting was misguided to begin with, instead they should have just taken the core idea about the death note and made an entirely new story with new characters.
characters were skewed. given this light's personality- he would have agreed to get the eyes of the shinigami. which is probably why it was ever mentioned. the american light was insecure, craved attention, and kinda stupid. he had qualms on killing the agents- because he wasn't a sociopath! he's supposed to be a sociopath! awful really....
For me, this version is good. It got it's own twists and probably their own (casts and crews) touches. Although the original version is much better since L is much better on the J-version.
I had tiny hope that it will be a good movie just because it was produced by Netflix. Well, shiiiiiit.
