I just cover mine with a plain dead straight face as i pretend I don't care about anything anymore.

though for me i guess i'm a lot better than i was before thanks to a new addition to my family, a baby sister. just going home from work or college and seeing that sweet innocent smile makes me think, life isn't as empty as it seems huh.

Honestly i just read, a good book is always good to get lost in and forget my worries. Im reading Fifteen Dogs by Andre Alexis right now, and i can do anything else. Give it a shot, might help somehow. Getting rid of my depression, and its working

I lost long ago, now i am but an empty husk. My spirit traveling through the internet as i slowly decay in the chair behind my computer. The trick is to be so depressing that you take your depression down with you. Mutual destruction. :blobwoah:

Didn't want to admit I had depression or anxiety for the longest... I left it alone as is and it may have turned into a disorder, I'm dealing with it one step at a time but some things relating to it recently may do lasting damage to the rest of my life.

Do you have a cat? If not I suggest getting one.

Slaving away to a superior creature takes your mind off depressing things and gives you new meaning!

Don't give up. Don't ever give up. Tackle it from all angles.

Go see a doctor or other specialist: they will point you in the right direction.

Other than that, even though its hard, fill your life with positivity to counter the negativity. I like imagery so I think of this as pulling in good vibes and discarding the bad. Like breathing.
    • Get physical, go for a walk around the block.
    • Make a point of sitting outside in the sun for a few minutes everyday. Maybe when you have a cuppa tea.
    • Meditate
    • Facebook has heaps of people that encourage positivity in everyday thinking, subscribe to them and get in that groove.

No matter what is happening right now: this is a moment that will pass and will get better.

Uh, my depression is turning into apathy. Well, I do still have feelings, but it's not like before.
I can't say that I have beaten depression because it's just getting worse(?). But, oh well, I don't at least feel sad or bad anymore, haha.

Depression never goes away, you either develop coping mechanisms or you wallow in it. Personally I do both. I have taken the attitude that it's not particularly bad for me so I don't really care.

I thought I had depression, but it's just apathy, well that may be worse dunno, don't wanna kill myself but don't have ambitions or empathy, the latter causes problems with girls and sometimes others.

It's a revolving door man, I have to alternate between gaming, reading, and sleeping to struggle from the day to day, might help to have someone to talk with that can just randomly make you smile.

^ i'm more or less like this, except i have one reason i have to let myself hang on: for other people whom i care for. it doesn't make it any less painful, however, to hang on with bleeding fingers...

and yeah, cat gifs do help!

    Why are you in depression?

No, use your depression to create an unique style of art, use your hate and welcome to the dark side of the force.

Thought I would reply to this, I don't think facebook is a good place to go to try and help yourself with depression.

People post mostly their happy things in it, making everything look perfect, comparing your life with their "perfect" life can be a good way of getting more and more depressed.

It's better to take some fresh air and deal with people that you can have physical contact with if possible. If not, very close internet friends help.

I also have chronic depression for years and much worse this year because of I been thinking of suicide everyday. I manage to control it with vitamin D3 and vitamin K2. Try it. i been optimistic and energetic these past weeks. Depression is an illness and vitamin D can help. Talking to someone, eating chocolate or other that people think that can get rid of depression is just temporary. Try the long term solution.

I probably shouldn't post this, I'd hate to be labelled as double posting or something, but the topic is more serious than being banned....and I LOVE my lists here.

You have your opinion and that's cool. Please share the pitfalls you have experienced. I'm not an expert which is why I first and always advocate going to a doctor or other professional.

FB is what it is. A social platform for people to hang out and converse about just about anything, even depression. Heaps of depression support groups, Affirmation Memes, Fluffy Cats!!! (Who doesn't like fluffy cats??), family and friends, sexy firemen (ahem).

NU is what it is. A platform where we usually talk about novels and manga which are generally a motley crew of fanatics and everything that FB has...minus the support groups, family, etc.

Neither is the best place for this conversation, but it doesn't matter so long as a conversation is taking place inmo.

The rest are just things that help me, I've been around the block for a while now and all I can offer is my personal opinion. Which is not perfect, but is what I give freely and with the best intentions.

I can't tell you or anyone where to find their way, I can only show the paths I have taken in good faith, which is all any of us can do really.

Welp, that is enough yaking from me. Take care. I'll see ya round the other forums.

    Cheers
