I am curious on how popular they are. I came across a Western interactive novel game app on Android but can't locate it.
What do you think about them and please add examples to your replies.
I am imagining turning say Mother of Learning into an interactive novel/Otome game Visual Novel

What're you tagging me for. Otome games? Nah, I haven't played any.... I wouldn't necessarily refuse to play one, mind ya, but I'm a guy, so.. not exactly the intended audience for otome, and no reason to go looking for them.

I've played quite a few VNs, tho, which are essentially the big umbrella that otome games fall under.

It's really, really, great. It's not only dating sim, but the plot is also top notch. And the characters' personality too. The Bad Endings, Good Ending, Normal Ending are also great.

I am curious how you would feel about an original novel like Mother of Learning being turned into a visual novel and you can make choices different from the protagonist and have different "routes"

I think Mother of Learning is well suited to that kind of adaptation, given that it's basically about exploring different paths to escape seemingly inevitable death. Lot of potential for a VN there. Easy to ruin, though.

Mobile otome games in the US are unfortunately just gatcha filled cash grabs. I've tried several, but they all take way too long on cool downs and are almost fully p2w. I've found what look like promising ones one steam that I have on my wishlist. Just waiting on them to go on sale to purchase. I think the closest to an Otome game I've actually fully played would be Honey Pop. But even then, it would barely qualify only in the loosest sense.

    And, yes, Gege, you're awesome

I made a typo, I meant to say visual novels, it doesnt have to be an otome game.
If you could turn a novel into a visual novel/interactive novel which would you choose?

Probably a game themed novel. I'm a gamer and I can imagine the potential choices better. Maybe something like Moonlight Sculptor or Strongest Sword God. Then again, cultivation novels probably wouldn't be too bad as different choices could lead to heart demons, different treasures or wars between sects.

Romance novels would be okay, but I almost feel like a prerequisite would need to be a harem, and I tend to stay away from those unless I'm in the odd mood for a reverse harem

Remember those (physical) books where you could decide what the main character did and then it said "if A, turn to page 240" or "if B, turn to page 7".

    I've done those

I was quite poor growing up so I couldnt afford most things but I think I might have read or seen one once and cheated

Mobile games are bad if it is pay2win. If it is like League of Legends when all the items are cosmetic then its fine. The way I see it, it is best to make free visual novels as mobile games since ad blockers do not work in apps as far as I know.

I will be adapting original novels into mobile visual novels, it seems like the best form of expansion for my business at this junction.
I will buy Fate/Stay and play it as a form of study. Since it has both romance and action elements, so it can suffice for studying both Otome games and Action Visual novels.

    Thanks again for the responses

Now right now unless you know Japanese. For otomes collar x malice is getting released in English on it next year. The MC is a police women and is investigating a terrorist organisation. Another one id recommend is code:realize (also coming out next year) which is basically a steampunk setting with famous literary character (like van healing and lupin). Both of them have great MCs. Also nightshade which is set in the sengoku era. But it has a lot of major character deaths in some routes

here's the list of upcoming Otomes if your instead:

For VN id recommend steins gate and if you want tears planetarian

I tried playing Katawa Shojou, then it made me choose between a short haired glasses girl and a blond ojou-sama. I couldn't get past that scene. I wish I was joking.

I haven't played it but I really admire the work and love that went behind it. Its basically a love project of /v/. It was made by non professionals yet the end result is a lot better then games professional studios have churned
