Mm, I don't know if it's similar but I had problems with the whole 'friend or not' thing in highschool. There was this girl, I was interested in her, my friends encouraged me and I naturally confessed to her (awkwardly, but that's youth for ya...). She actually didn't give me an answer, just asked me why was that and basically ran away. After three days I came to know that she started dating another guy. I heard the news and laughed like a madman (teen angst), after that I completely lost the interest in that girl while she tried to maintain our friendship. She straight up kept trying to reconstruct our relationship for one year and at some point that was succeeding (except that now I had 0 interest in her). I never asked how the things with the another guy were and I never heard anything about it either (out of consideration, maybe...). Then, there was this one day where we were preparing ourselves for a play and in the middle of the whole mess she said that she came to love me. I was doing something else entirely at the time but got that she was serious and decided to laugh it off as a joke (teen angst). After that she announced to us that she was moving to another city and kept trying to ask me out, giving me expecting glances each time (now a little rant. What did she expect? A freaking little romance where we kiss each other while giving goodbye and after that cry ourselves to sleep holding in our hands a photo of both of us? Then we would try to maintain a relationship where we can't even see each other IN FUCKING HIGHSCHOOL AGE?! Haha, not even god would blame me (or her) for cheating in this situation.) I kept blocking her attempts, she moved out and that was it. Life goes on.
