    Basically the title.

I was noticing some lag in my browser as I was trying to post on the forums and after a brief check of my computer's resource monitor, it seems that Flash was consuming a lot of RAM. I was not even aware flash ran on this site. Granted it could be just my computer or my browser, but why does this site use flash? I don't see any reason it should.

The site (http://www.novelupdates.com)? I don't think the site does from my knowledge.

The forum on the other hands uses it for the Flash Uploader which is used to attach/upload images.

    What I found:

Thanks for the response. Looks I can permablock it on this site/forum then, since I don't use that feature.
(If it weren't for a couple of hold over sites, I would honestly uninstall flash for good on my computer.)

That's weird that it lags for you though.

I found the option for it: "Use Flash Uploader - Using the Flash uploader allows those visitors with Adobe Flash installed to select multiple files to upload once, and to see a progress meter during the upload."

It's off now though. It might cause problems for other users in the future. Apparently you can still upload files, just cant see the progress meter. I think

Didn't even know that existed till you told me you had a flash problem

Honestly didn't even notice since I just perma.. block flash on majority of sites.. and unblock on a need-to basis.. and html5 is making a huge breakthrough in sites so you don't even see it as the main video source anymore.. hmm.. oh well thanks for disabling it tony~ (And Flash has always been a resource hog lol)

My computer's a bit old and has all sorts of funky problems. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It could be related to the fact that up until a few days ago, my SSD had less than a GB free. Windows would always want to close my programs to save memory. It doesn't help that Firefox has become a resource hog.

    Chrome is your friend :)

But I understand that it's hard to change. Firefox was my ex-friend.

I actually use both browsers simultaneously, but FF is my primary. The tabs and addons are too hard to let go. T_T
That and I dislike how Google does things sometimes.

Chrome is a huge resource hog too lol. Also making the swap from FF to chrome is daunting for some people -shrug- but in the end the main enemy of both browsers is flash...
