Recommendations Douluo Dalu like novel

I’m looking for a book outside of the Douluo Dalu novels that has a similar power up system. To gain ability or power absorb -blank- (doubt it’s soul rings) and stronger -blank- absorbed is stronger ability or power. I don’t know if there is other novels like it but who knows, maybe I’m lucky. I’ve only read the first and second(up to translation) novels of the DD series so I don’t know if it changes power system later on given

Therefore I’m referring to the system in the first and second novels.

Can’t really tell what’s its about, mind giving a brief description?

 

Cunning ML- though slightly black bellied starts as nothing live in a mine town. A mysterious teacher gives him the opportunity to expand and grow at a prominent academy where he (the teacher) has hidden his legacy. Difficulties fitting in, very food-driven and an uncanny ability to rally people to his side, and more. I don't really like going into to much more. Suffice to say, give this one a try. I think it's a fantastic follow-up to the Douluo Dalu Series.
