My dad asked me to backup his photos because it's getting full. I thought it's not difficult, so I agreed.

Turned out the thing is filled with 110gb of photos and videos from the last ten years. I could copy it to my PC but not erasing them, I figure that it need to be done from the phone.

Then I tried to do exactly that. Why the **** dont it have any "select all" options? Why doed it take an eternity to process a thousand deletion? And why does the deleted stuff go into "recently deleted" instead of just, you know, erased from existence?

There's, like, 14000 items left. What to do? Would accessing it from PC and using a file shredder work or would it deal some kind of damage? Google have tons of similar complaint but no solution aside from slowly doing it a group at a time.

PS: I never used apple stuff.
PPS: It have no cloud connection, if you're wondering.

Delete from any digital format does not work as you think, the computer does not put zero in all bits of information, what it does is mark the content as empty space that can be overwritten

I know that, that's not what I mean. The phone literally have a specific folder in the gallery called "Recently Deleted", in which all photos go there after deleting. Still clogging up space and require another lengthy wait to purge.

    I wish :<

    No idea mate

the recently deleted, you should be able to delete it completely from there?
unless my memory is wrong. quite some time since mine broke down.
and yes it takes forever. get used to it.

copying pictures to pc should be easy as I could remember (drag, select, copy, paste)

but moving from pc to phone, it gets tricky
took me quite some time to get used to navigating the thing.

ahh, right. it's getting back to me.
whatever you do, do in small batches or part by part. (moving files, deleting, editing)
doing it all in a go never works.

I don’t quite understand what your goals are, I think you were complaining about how to delete everything quickly from the ‘recently deleted’ folder? Here’s how to do that:
In the recently deleted folder, there’s a ‘select’ option top right. Click that and there will be a ‘delete all’ option bottom left

Can I ask why you don’t just move everything to PC, do whatever changes you need there, and then replace your edited PC content with the original in your iphone? You’d have a PC backup ready in an instant.

Some quick keyboard shortcuts for having a ton of files:
    Control+A = select all
    Control+C = copy all
    Control+P= paste all
