Wow, I never thought that one day my addiction to harem will be gone. When I was a kid the only thing I had literally watched was harem. From the day my friend introduced me to an anime which is called Code Geass a very good example of what anime that made me love that genre, to the day I discovered novels like CN/KR/JP the only genre I read was literally harem, then when I was finished reading all I could find about harem, I switched to stories like Erotica which has f*ck tons of harem or polygamy, but thankfully after exhausting harem or polygamy genre type of Erotica, I switched to fanfiction which doesn't have much on it and what do you know I actually enjoyed a monogamy type of stories though most of them are weird as hell... like my favorite ship's Left 4 Dead ZoeyXHunter or GardevorXOC yeah I know weird as hell but don't judge me though I don't hate the harem perse. 9/10 of them are literally bad, especially the character development from what I noticed.
There is nothing wrong watching harem. People taste evolve. There grew out thing from their childhood. Sometimes even shounen anime are getting tired or bored from your taste. You more likely driven into mature subject and more complex matter that is related to your age. I do like harem but i do agreed it get it boring with same highschool harem set up. I believen that genre into more less annoying direction and have sense purpose such as danmachi or overlord But any genre can have the same beat and progress thus lead to repettion.
... and straight to NTR? Lolz just kidding, your kicks of harems get itself back after a bit of rinsing.
Get married, have kids and provide for all of them. That should cure you completely from your harem addictions.
As for me, because there's a novel or manga (i dont remember, cant found it). Mc is just an average normal guy. Fl (best girl) is the childhood friend. Mc gain power out of nowhere (here come the heroine from different society). Then he grows his harem with his plot armor. Then his personality is changed. So the childhood friend is leaving him. Rather than mindlessly staying with mc. She leave with mc's best friend(not romantically). They choose the path of ordinary people. Then the author didn't mentioning them again in the future. That's the first time i see there's a female with common sense and rational judgment. I mean, why the fk all the girls flock around mc. He's no the strongest. He's a wimp. Always get dragged by his harem. Have many girls and yet either he didn't choose anyone or choosing everyone, and the girls happy (wtf).
If only, if only, then it would be a celebration! No, it's not, but the path to NTR ain't straight. It's a spiral of emotional conflict, and once you reach the root of this spiral, you warp yourself back out with more backlash.

Lazlo Zalezac The Millionaire Next Door: I have learned life more than I could ever imagine with this story. It has harem with lelouch having 3 girls in love with him like Shirley,Karen,CC.
Fanfiction doesn't have much harem...... Half my favourite fanfics have harems and I don't even like harems much. You noticed that character development in harems is bad, very observant
lol, you funny. you never grow out of the harem addiction. unless it's a reverse harem. then we don't even go there. that's for the ladies. lol
Some reverse harems are pretty good. In fact as long as you stay out of the adult section and your not looking for "research material" than you should try reading some. They tend to get more in the interest character when they cant spend every chapter emphasizing a certain character's breast or ass. Than again I've only read the reincarnated otome game genre so I dont know all of them.
The basic reason why main characters cant choose in a harem is because authors dont need fans to stop reading because their best girl wasn't chosen.
