Hi! I just finished reading Hard to Escape. It just became one of my most favorite novel. It's comedic, full of fluff, yet a twist of angst which added to its depth. The story is very deep and there are so many issues that underly every plot. If you know this novel, please do recommend me something similar. If not, then you need to add this to your reading list. It's really good. This is HE. The angst is also acceptable, their romance is slow paced and very reasonable, you just can't help but fall in love with the MC. She is strong and optimistic in such tragic situations she finds herself with. She is not perfect, yes, she blunders majority of the time, which you can't help but face palm yourself. She has so many weaknesses but her personality and drive to find her better self overshadows it. The ML first come out as a cold mysterious CEO. One where you can't read his intentions. And since the novel uses the MC's POV, her impressions and perception of him was one of the best highlights. There are a lot of comedic and dark undertones with regards to their relationship. But as the story develops, there are nuances that breaks his mask of civility, especially when he is faced with the MC, like he is facing a train ready to crash unto him. It really wrecks his image as a cold CEO, unveiling that there is more, and you can't help but pity and love him, especially in a situation he started himself yet can't extricate anymore when he so wanted to more than anyone else. The MC's accident was a misfortune for her, but it's actually a fortune for him. This was the premise and main center point that started their relationship and gave it conflict. He is very manipulative, so much that it can be a bit disturbing (the good kind) which added to the forebonding dark undertones and it's a kind of feeling that the author managed well to keep below the surface, just boiling underneath waiting to explode. The ML will love and pamper the MC. But what I love most about them is their character development, for both the MC and ML. Humu... I would camp at this thread But! Can I please ask for a normal human being for an ML? No ice sculptures type and no perfect 100% in everything except when it comes to emotions and interpersonal connections type or the tragic back story made him cold type. Just a normal human with his own Imperfections and flaws is fine. Like the thread starter mentioned, *Romance *Comedy *A bit of angst *A bit of fluff I shall shamelessly camp here now.
*Cracks Knuckles* This oughta be fun to reply to. Demon Wang’s Golden Favorite Fei (Bunch of drama and some face slapping included. Most of the angst is in the drama plot -- the usual oh no we cant get married, oh wait we can, oh no we cant have children, oh yes we can, and some rather dark drama that would be best to read for yourself. Has some funny moments and plenty of lovey moments with the CP) Evil-Natured Husband, Don’t Tease! (Male lead is a big ol' douce, but if you want a cold male lead that slowly and when i mean slowly, I mean slowly, begins to warm up to his transmigrated wife, then you get this novel. Plenty of drama and angst with some funny face slapping moments. Not that much of a fluffy novel, however). Perfect Fiancé (Okay, so classic transmigration into the villainess type CN novel, but instead of the MC doing anything, the male lead just falls for her. It's not as dramatic as Hard to Escape, where there's this mystery and suspense behind the MC's predicament. There is some mystery behind why the male lead likes the MC, but thats about it to be very straight and without going into spoiler territory. Good news is the fluff and shortness of the story, nice and easy read to binge in a few days or a weekend) She Become Sweet and Cuddly (If you liked Hard to Escape, then you would like this novel. She Become Sweet and Cuddly is another amnesia esque novel where the MC has no memory when she wakes up and is faced with a very life. The character is already married to the ML and has a kid with him, but because of some damn cannon fodder, had a shift in personality. The novel is full of fluffy moments with the kid and some drama that unravels about the MC's past. Good read though it is slow in its updates.) He’s Mine, No Objections Allowed (Similar to the personality of the MC in Hard to Escape, the MC is strong willed and has a I don't care attitude towards most drama while being quite bold and empowering. She is brash and actually is the one to chase after the male lead, who while has a cold exterior to others, shows a warm side to her. The actions between the two are very funny and there is only drama regarding the cannon fodders that try to upstage the MC in showbiz or her relationship, which is confirmed earlier than most CN novels.) The CEO’s Villainess Childhood Friend (Most people have already read this novel, so I will be short about it. Girl transmigrates into the villainess of a showbiz story with an instant child and gets to fall in love with the child's father. The story is full of comedy and fluff because oh dear god the MC is just a bubble of sunshine, though she does know ehn to get serious, such as getting money to support her child, getting a hair sample to prove dna, etc, etc. She's not dumb, but she isn't the smartest knife in the drawer. She also is responsible nad has plenty of cute moments with the ML and kid. There is mystery behind the original body's past that is kind of depressing.) Hello, Wife! (This time the MC is the one thats colder than the Ml and is honestly hard to read. The story is even paced and ends happily of course with the ML and FL together. MC is a girl who gets cheated on and then finds that rich guy from her university has a crush on her. The story is mostly about their relationship growing as she overcomes her own personal issues with dating another rich guy that might just dump her. Angst with the character's backstory and reasoning for this idea, but plenty of comedy and face slapping for the future because of her before mentioned aloof attitude). Doomed to be Cannon Fodder (Angst? Yes. Drama? Yes. Funny Moments? Yes. Happy Ending? Yes. Male Lead thats a tsundere but then just goes full on pampering mode? yes. Just read it, I'm sure you have heard about this novel before if you have yet to read it ). Rebirth on the Doors to the Civil Affairs Bureau (Second chance novel where the MC finds a rich man and lathes on. Its full of funny moments and is a rather sweet and slow story that can be binged quickly if desired. The couple is married before they truly love each other, and the angst in the story is about MC's past life, where she died alone and abandoned by her family. It covers the issues that many woman face in their thirties when they remain unmarried, as the MC did so in her first chance. Happy Ending with Babies, Yayyyyy) Transmigrator Meets Reincarnator (Want a novel where the ML and FL fucking hate each other at first? here you go. It's a damn ride, but it is a good damn read through and through. Transmigrator meets Reincarnator is when the MC is transmigrated into a role who is supposed to get the perfect husband, even though the original body abandons him, and as the titles suggests, hubby is the reincarnater. See them struggle, see them fall in love. See the endless cannonfodder bullshit, and stay for the satisfying ending. Die scum die. Read it, but it'll take you a loooooong time. Also, don't eat on an empty stomach, the novel is straight up food porn at some chapters.) Unruly Phoenix Xiaoyao (Funny as shit. But not that much angst involved. Zombie apocolypse survivor transmigrates into a mock-emperor cross dresser who becomes attracted to (doesn't really ever fall in love) the general of the rebellion. It's funny, and you might like it if you are desperate for a read with drama, but fluff and action with a happy ending.) Chongfei Manual (One of my favorite novels, it is about a girl who is given a second chance and she whole heartedly gets her revenge on those who scorned her. The male lead is the one who helps save her and they have this nice friendship that goes on playfully that eventually turns romantic. There is plenty of drama and angst as the MC recounts her past life. There is even an alternate ending involved with the supporting male lead as one of the last chapters, so do check it out. Very fun, very nice, and also a happy ending story.) AND DONT FORGET THIS TEAR JERKER OF A STORY: Lucia (Damn this book. It is angsty and dramatic as hell, The ML and FL are strangers, but the MC needs a thigh to latch onto. She does and eventually they fall in love. There is this whole hullabaloo in the sotry about genetics and children, but its a fun ride. Very mysterious at some points and the drama is intense, couple does get a happy ending though, and they fall in love. yay) Okay, so that's all that I have on my mind rn from Novel updates. I'm going to be shameless here, I have a novel called The Satisfaction of 100 Lifetimes: Marigold’s Reincarnation and I feel as if it ticks a lot of the boxes that you're looking for, so I'm just going to leave that link and the description. Here's the description: Spoiler: Description Marigold was your average cannon fodder villainess; she schemed and plotted against her perfect half-sister, the heroine, she attempted to assassinate her own twin brother for betraying her, and she tried to defame her fiance, the prince. Now of course, none of this worked, and eventually she was imprisoned for her crimes. But when her contract is complete and she is sent back to her very first life when all her troubles first began, Marigold can't help but change her fate, even if it is not as cruel as she first imagined it so many lifetimes ago. Eventually though, with the help of the strange second prince she gets her own happily ever after.
The ML in Hard to Escape is far from perfect. It's just the first impression. There are depths to their character. As for being cold CEO, there is a reason for this. He is not a cookie cutter character that is an iceberg, oh no, he is not. Far from that. He has no dark past, albeit, not before meeting the MC. Him being a CEO and wealthy is because he is an inheritor and their parents who are already dead is super rich. Them being able to meet is also natural, provided who MC was in the past. As for being cold, heh. The MC did not thaw him, she crashes into him, and breaks his persona. This is not an insta love. He's one of the most proactive ML in a relationship. The MC will reject him again ang again, and with valid reasons. He will break and break his character just to conform and take care of the MC in everyway he can. His character actually comes out first with a very unsettled feeling. The MC herself comments with the unnatural of his character and their situation, and there is reason for that. I don't want to spoil, it's too good of a novel to spoil. When I say he can be manipulative, I do mean that in every way. And that adds up actually to his flaws. Because he is flawed, he is forced to be manipulative of the MC, and maybe you will hate him, but you also can't help buy pity him for that, because he can only manipulate so far, and when everything got overturned, he's also helpless.
