From what I read MW's translator apparently had a fallout with GGP reason why he moved also. The translator for IRAS and TMW just wanted all his novels to be on one site so he doesn't have to switch sites to post.

 

And you forget WW has licensing deals with Qidian, and WW has a cult following. Else where would you get over 10K USD worth of Patreon for a single series? No other sites can boast such lucrative deals.

 

technically, i think it should be "gravity tales to wuxiaworld"

...and to loosely quote a random comment under new context, wouldnt it be funny if we get an announcement of "wuxiaworld welcomes gravity tales" for april fools or something XD

Well.. Wuxiaworld and his contract with Qidian have a great advantage to rope in other Qidian Novel translator so..

Probably because Ren can negotiate to qidan about localization. they might want their novels to be only translated by them, though they can translate in qidan international. I think it has own disadvantage.

 

So a fight between Powerhouses about to happen?

if i'm not wrong, top 3 novels in gravity votes were MW, TMW and IRAS, right? and they suddenly moved to WW.. hmm...

 

I'm pretty sure will see more Qidian novel translators move to WW or other affiliated sites soon, otherwise they will have to gain contract from Qidian to continue translating their novels. While on the other hand, Gravity Tales still have plenty of novels outside of Qidian, they even have originals and other languages.

In short, WW will gian more novel hosting as Qidian uses their iron grip into making Qidian novel translators submit to their rules, specially as they are getting closer to finalising their site (get ready for monthly subscription boooiiiiis). Whilst on the other hand, gravity tails wont lose out much, maybe a novel here and there but many will also join them as smaller groups having to join them to survive.

Win win situation for both sites really. For the smaller sites on the other hand, many will soon disappear.

Am i the only one who thinks WW is kinda monopolizing this whole market. Intentionally or unintentionally, they are the one that is constantly growing while others fall.

 

I can't help but think of the saying, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket"

 

Love both sites, I think it has more to do with WW far-sight to make a deal with the people who own the original copyrights

 

What a coincidence, it was my first thought when WW decided to contact Qidian.

From the post on WW, I thought MW was moved because of personal reason (not sure what kind of reasoning though), so basically…… I don't really care as long as I can read them lel

 

I'm not sure Gravity Tales doesn't have some form of agreement with Qidian, otherwise they would have gotten a C&D (cease and desist) already. Qidian International has made themselves clear that the rights to these novels belong to them and the author (they do) and that translators can join up or pay the fee to get a license.
