Well, it's mostly because everyone is nice to everyone. Take Ocean. You feel at home with them. I think that's important. ^^
When you come here new, if there is no interest from other side, you may hesitate to interact.

Like for example all the art work and sculptures made during renaissance era. You can feel all the emotions the artists put into their work. It's mesmerising.

Yepp~ when I originally got here, i didnt sign up for something like half a year to a year... and then it took me another year to start doing stuff on the forums, interacting with people xD

That's true and inevitable. Have you ever felt like you should do better and be successful, because your mom loves you so much and sacrifices everything for your happiness, and being successful and achieving something will make her happy, although she didn't really ask you for it?
