    - These are the only Chinese Historical dramas I know.

    It really depends on what factor make you cringe. For me I hate how clean and 'pretty' they make all characters, especially on fantasy/historical drama. That's why I only watched old drama made in early 2000s.

    If it's the awkward camera placement that make the drama looks like Indonesia/India soap opera, it's better to just skipped the entire series drama and just watch their movie.
    There's several app to watch drama, if you search at app store it'll show you the option that's available in your country.

    I don't know if you're still looking for dramas but you can find them easily now and legally on YouTube.
    You can find most of the ones that were already told (that I also recommend to you for most of them) in there.

    It actually is the case in Chinese Dramaland, costumes dramas are considered as historical dramas.
