Question How do I contact the novel's author?

    How do I contact them so that I can ask whether I can translate their novels or not? I'm translating Martial Emperor Reborn and Totem, whose authors are both authors of qidian.com. I went on the site and tried to find a way to contact them, but can only seem to contact them through commenting. The thing is, I can't comment without an account, and I can't make an account because I don't have a Chinese/Hong Kong/Taiwanese phone number, which the platform requires.

    It's been dwelling on my mind, and especially because I'm making donations possible (actual donating out of thanks, not sponsored chapters), I want to be sure that the authors are fine with me translating.

    Also, just a sidenote, but my Chinese kinda sucks (in that I absolutely cannot write for my life), so if anyone would like to help...

    Hmmmmmm...... Did you try googling how to make a phone number in Chinese/Taiwanese? I would assume they have an app (like Viber, Talkatone, etc) which gives you the ability to make a phone number for a certain region. I did it so I could have a Filipino phone number on my iPod to have the ability to make calls through Wifi to the Phillipines. It should be the same concept?

    You could always find the novel's QQ group if there is one and go from there.

    It'd be rare; since Twitter is kinda blocked in China. Sina Weibo and other Chinese social media sites would be the way to go

    Naw they send you a confirmation text... I still have the sim and phone number of my Chinese phone... though they most likely disconnected it in the three years I've been absent

    Ask someone who has an account I guess? I'm sure there are people who have accounts. There are people in wuxiaworld who are living in China, so you could maybe try taking their help in making an account.

    How about do what overtheranbow did, he made a post in Tieba Baidu

    If you still failed to contact the author, i heard in ancient era you used some kind of bone, pentagram array and three by nine drops of virgin blood to summon it.

    btw, Thanks for translating Totem, so far i love this series.

    Thanks for the replies. I'll try the free phone number, but the thing is my Chinese isn't good enough to navigate Chinese social media sites. Most likely, I wouldn't be able to find anything.
