There's always the random button and ocassionally I ask for recs, but mostly I just mess with filters for whatever I'm in the mood for.

    Yes

But mostly I tend to like certain authors style of writing. So I tend to swing by their sites to see if they have anything new. Which, let’s be honest can not be produced in a day. Sometimes it takes years. Than of course genre. I like a certain niche. So that makes it harder. Than I look for keywords that catch my attention. Than I check old books for updates or authors new books all over again. Than repeat or something like that

Check the latest updated novel title that interested me.

Sadly, most title I found interested with is BL in disguise.

    Definitely not my To-Read list.

I always seem to read anything and everything besides the ones I put on that list.

I sometimes look at the translator's other works, but I'm more likely to look at the author's other works. I also look at the "recommended" list on the novel page of novels I like. I have a saved search with a bunch of filters set that I go to once in a while to see if there's anything new worth checking out. Every once in a while I ask for recommendation on the forum, especially if I'm trying to scratch a particular itch.

    • ask / look for recommendations
      • I like nu forums since u can search. But for western books been trying to use booktube for recommendations but it’s like wasting my time I could’ve spent on reading, and many just parrot reading same few books...
    • Tinker around with the filters
    • Look at the newly released page
    • Look at other works of the same translator - I’ve only done this few times since there are some who just have novels on their site just not on nu yet
    • Adaptation of manga/hua/hwa
      • To add to this one, anime & asian drama too
I use to also check whatever ridibooks events are promoting and mtl whatever cover & blurb catches my eyes and has free chapters, but it’s been overwhelming so lol

There are some people who often have some good things to share, Tallrice have good lists on novelupdates. If it's western literature, then reddit has some good recommendations.

For English language novels, I like to see whether my favorite authors have a blog/website/social media and if they recommend any books by other authors. They often do!

Except for the oldest novels here, like 6+ years old, I have the rest in lists. I'd go over to my lists depending on what I feel like reading (BL, BG, Korean Male MC novel, etc) and click until I find an interesting synopsis. Then if I like the author's style and the novel was good, I'd look through the author's other works and read them as well.
