Request How do you make guy friends?

So I noticed this guy at my school talking about anime and manga out loud so I overheard him. When I came up to him alone and talked about how I liked that hobby too but a few hours later he got the wrong idea and asked me out after class. Naturally I turned him down since I only wanted to talk about my hobbies but he got mad and screamed at me like why I was playing with him? So I just wanted to ask if there was a way to just be friends with the same hobbies and show that clearly. If theres an expert here on the minds of guys, I would appreciate the help. Thanks.

- You had some seductive look/clothes whatever, making him misinterpret the situation
- He is just not used to talking to girls, getting the wrong idea

A normal person wouldnt have asked you out after talking to you for like 5 minutes anyways...
But then again people are special and some will only befriend you to try for love...
If they cant get what they want, you go back to being ignored...
IMO those people arent worth talking to anyways...

 

dont direct it at a single person but approach the group as a whole. dont start out with saying i like your hobby instead casually join in the conversation and add in your input. if it is one on one usually guys will think you are trying to make a connection to go out with him later. but if you show that you have knowledge on the topic and you join in the middle then theyll just think that you are interested and just add you to the group. also add in that you dont mind the misunderstanding but dont call him out right in front of his friends but tell him so that only he knows. if not there will be problems later

 

I guess he got the wrong idea because you specifically came when he's alone? Just talk about common interests when you're with people...

There's always something to talk about, like random events usually go pretty far during breaks between classes. (At least for guys, I've got no idea what girls talk about when they're together since I'm not one...)

 

i think your method is not really wrong. you are just unfortunate your target is someone like that. maybe you can try observe someone character first before socialize with them. remember to choose someone who can differentiate 2d with reality. anime, manga, lightnovel dll is purely for entertainment.

instead of making contact when he is alone. joining in the middle of a conversation is a good choice to prevent misunderstanding like that.

 

You should probably clear it up to him and in general approaching his group is more tactful and easier especially if you're not slightly older(where girl guy distinction isn't as prominent).

 

The guy overreacted and the girl gave misleading signal by going to talk alone.

 

Don't ask me, I have only 2 guys I truly consider as friends and even I don't know how I ended up with them. So basically what I'm trying to say is,you can't force it, friends just happen .

 

All I can say is...you ran into a guy with grand delusions of a happy school life filled with love and drama. Just like a romance manga.

He got pissed cos his dreams broke. Just give him a pitiful look and tell him, this is real life bro.

Lol I thought the alone part was a bit off as well, but they're school kids, they will be dumb, so you can't really blame the guy or the girl

 

If I can exchange greetings with them then they are my friends. If I could chat with them then they are my buddies. Otherwise it is an acquaintance.

I have girlfriends in school before and just let it be cool. If you're a guy let the girl drag you to her hobbies. Go with the flow; if you're a girl, drag the guy to your hobby. All men turns to "Yes Men" in front a girl. Even if they find it annoying. Thats how it work for me.

 

never talk alone with boys and never show enthusiasm. make light talk chatting as a group to appear as 'someone who overheard something with same interest and wanted to talk about it'. if let say, someone approach you alone with intent to get closer, make small talk, laugh, and excused to leave.
the key to remember is that male are highly imaginative being. some would keep probing, but its better to not respond highly at such thing, just keep it barely courteous enough to show non interest in anything more than sharing hobbies.

 

At least not without first being there when it happened.
