    They both made the conscious decision to bring a child into this world then blamed the child for being born. They also knew the possibility of the child inheriting winter magic but for some reason, both are surprised when it happened and call the child a monster for something they can't help. if blame had to be put on someone, the child's power would be the Duke's fault since that's his own genes he passed down.

    It's crazy that when the Duke passed away, he acted like he was so benevolent in his final moments by letting go of his anger towards ML and trying to forget what ML did (not forgive....). None of this was ML's fault and I don't know what deed ML had done that had to be forgotten but ok. whatever.

    i know these are fictional characters but it makes my stomach churn seeing grown ass adults taking out their anger on a child.

    **CORRECTION**
    ML's father is total trash but the motivation for his s*icide needs to be clarified.

    Later in the story, the Emperor & ML will get into a confrontation b/c the Emperor has been trying to make a move on MC. Because of their ongoing conflict, former Duke was wary about ML being able to officially succeed the title once he steps down as nobles need the emperor's approval for the successor to take over the title. The only way to bypass the need for Imperial family's approval is in the event of a sudden passing of the current title holder and there's only one successor.

    ML's father decides to take poison as he's already terminally ill and thinks that he might as well use his death to benefit ML, if it's going to be inevitable, and help ML with obtaining the title while incurring the sympathy of the North, solidifying the North in the process. Ever since the former Duchess died, the Duke wanted to follow her to the afterlife but he had to stay to protect the family.

    He also tells ML not to blame himself and that the choice to take poison was of his own volition. If anyone were to try to blame ML for his father's unexpected passing, the Duke has already set up circumstantial evidence as proof that he was trying to harm ML first.

    he does seem that way but we can infer from the summary that he either gets Redeemed (ugh) or becomes a useful tool for mc bc he grows to worship her, so... :blobconfused:

    Is her husband really a monster? By that I mean the ML is a non-human character? What about FL, is she older than him?

    I took a look at some Naver blogs...

    People are generally saying:
    - It’s a friends to lovers story
    - ML is really good at saying romantic stuff, FL is vulnerable to dumb FL syndrome sometimes but is sweet
    - The story sets up a lot of “ML rescues FL” situations
    - Most of the reviews do think ML is decently charming but are frustrated by the story. Unrealistic/unnecessary conflict apparently

    I saw blogs with more specific details too.
    - Emperor becomes obsessed with our main characters. Main villain.
    Crown Prince is also a bad guy and is a creep that pursues her as a married woman, a narcissist who flirts despite FL not liking it. Male thot.
    - ML and FL actually DO get divorced at one point
    - Duke suicide? He does it for Zachary? BC HE CARED? Me: Wait wut...? Apparently he did it because he loved Zach... huh. Who knew? Pigs fly apparently.
    -     ML’s mother loved someone else? Negligent mother?
    - FL returns and comforts ML and they have their love confirmation
    - They change the emperor and have a happily ever after with a child

    Honestly these one were info overloads... the mtl was kinda hard to read for some of them.

    So far the manhwa is cute and refreshing except for Duke being bastard. So can anyone spoil what happened to Eli? she disappear :blobfearful: and the tag have r19 and mature genre :sweating_profusely:
