Non-Fic I think it's time I wake up from my dream, but do I want to?

Tonight I finally realized the value of being a person. Yes, people value others for something they have or not. Yes, they value other individuals that give something to them. Said something must be of value, and said value can be either transient or not. Ah, why did I take so long for me to realize. Fuck...

So even virtues are wrong, huh? Even saints are evil, huh? Even kindness is hurtful, huh?
Family? They value you, because you're useful to them.
Friends? They value you, because you're worth their time and investment.
Acquaintances? They value you, because your existence is a possible olive branch to them if their time of need comes.
Enemies? They value you, because your beliefs and actions will solidify their beliefs and actions.
One's self? You only value yourself, because... because... we live in a society of values, labels, and most of all... sin. The only thing transcendent is sin. Yes, sin that stains and curses everyone. Sin that entangles and chains everything.

If I have no value other than being a sacrifice or slave to lesser evils.... even if those evils were my own kin... then I shall hope to become an evil greater than them. I shall wake up from this dream of mine, but I don't want to. It's safer here, more understandable and observable. People beyond the dream are unreasonable and non-observable. You see can them. Hear and communicate with them. Yet it's still scary. Absolutely terrifying when you don't know who they really are or what they want with you.

I'm no different, but the only difference is I'm the most sinful of them all. Yes, I desire knowledge. All of it. Only when I truly understand and observe them in all their sins... can I acknowledge their true value. I will not reject you, nay. I will accept of all you, then I shall judge you according to my law. Why? I'm human just like you~ yes~ absolutely sane like you all~ Indeed, if you lot can sin, why can't I? Normal and that's why it's so terrifying, because everything they do is normal. Tell me, what separates abnormality from normality? Numbers, and by numbers, I mean the value itself of being part of the majority. Fear normalcy and hate abnormality, because such mentalities are all indoctrinated in us. Cultivated from the womb and stained by the innards of solitude. Values are there to separate us. Divide and conquer you call it. Invisible yet tangible.

To those who aren't on the winning side of this war, they're just numbers people will forget or view as something indispensable. Scary, isn't it? Humans are scary.

1) Your post title reminds me of my signature. I'm right there with you and still feeling that way.

2) Part of your post reminds me of one of the basic tenets of Social Psych I studied in college: Social Behavior is Goal-Oriented

• All interactions are driven by either conscious or subconscious reasons.
• Love, status, money, acceptance, etc.
• We receive social feedback and modify our own behaviors accordingly.

We, as individuals, are a product of the social norms, pressures, and the environment around us; friends, family, media. If that resonates with you, you'd enjoy some Sociology literature, my friend.

 

MORE Sociology. Don't know why I'm coming at this from an academic angle. Your messages just sparked something in me.

The Big 3:

1) Conflict Theory - Marx wrote about this. An ever-constant struggle between the Dominant vs. Subdominant cultures. The two groups fighting; one keeping the 'normal' status quo, the other fighting for their identity and existence. [Your message reminded me of this. The 'majority' are the Dominant, always on the winning side.]

2) Functionalism - Society is dynamic and always changing. The whole is made up of a bunch of smaller gears and moving parts, all seemingly moving in one direction. [Tbh this one is too optimistic for me.]

3) Symbolic Interactionism - Everything we do, say, etc. has meaning assigned to it. Meaning is conveyed in our exchanges. How we interpret those are subjective. [This is more on the micro level vs. the other two.]
