Alright, simply put, aggregators, in this context, refer to websites that illegally accumulate media and host it on their site. The official raws are paywalled after a certain chapter, and the only websites that would host them for free are aggregators. Linking these and requesting for them is piracy and against forum rules.

As for the context, uh, what am I supposed to say? If you were going to ask for free raws it probably would have been better to ask if there were any free official outlets. I thought it was pretty common knowledge that free versions of paywalled raws are only obtainable via piracy, pretty much.

What I see is novelupdates also promoting piracy, almost all novel added on novelupdates don't have licensed which is considered as copyright. And based on my research on the internet, "Piracy" is slang for copyright infringement. So why do they allowed people to add their translation link or site on novelupdates without a licenced? This is the same as advertising/promoting them right? I think you got it wrong, you should just said to him that don't openly ask for a pirated copy, just do it secretly. I think this is much appropriate.

But yeah, fan translation is piracy in most places, although a bit more grey area-ish than outright copy-pasting, since the translations mean that the content is altered in some form. NU is a novel translation site and it started as one to keep track of fan translations, so I doubt that the linking to fan translations is stopping anytime soon--NU doesn't host the content itself, which also makes it a bit more of a gray area.

But from what I understand of NUF's policy, yeah, we're supposed avoid openly asking for, linking, or promoting direct pirated content of things. This is stated in the rules. By direct, I mean without significant alteration, probably because linking to pirated content aggregators is a lot less excusable than linking to fan translations.
