"KILL!!"

Is it just me?
It makes no sense to say :
KILL!!!

When you can just say :
DIE!!!

It usually translated as the former when often than not, the latter works better..
Is it just me?

kill is encouraging your allies

so yeah

Although, rather than 'die' I think we should take reference from deadpool and make it into something like "I will unalive you " or 'Let's unalive them '

 

I always imagined the speaker was so enraged that he/she dropped the subject (I) and object (you) and could manage to spit out only the verb (kill).

 

Yeah... I've noticed some novels translate Kill where a Die would be more logical...

It's a matter of grammar. In Japanese, Russian, and probably a bunch of other languages, just using the right form of the word "kill" is enough to infer "I'll kill (subject)". So all other words can be dropped, leaving only one for a scary battlecry. I've seen it done like that in both languages.
So translators are probably confused by that, especially if they lack imagination (due to being computer programs) to use "die" or expand to "I'll kill you".

By the way I noticed that CHARGE!! is more apt in some cases instead of KILL!!

And so it begins the "makes sense in original context but lost in translation" shit.

"杀!" Can be use to encourage oneself and allies when trying to let the enemies hop twigs, makes much sense when you read a original CN novel/ manhua or watch a CN drama.

"死!" Is self explanatory, you want them unalived, nuff said.

 

I've also noticed that "kill" seems to be more like "fight" in a lot of cases.

When people (and machine translators) always translate it as "kill" you'll get those situations where someone "kills" someone else and then that other person who just got "killed" is still alive.

Or charge like you mentioned here.


Also, "kill" can just mean that something is "cool" or "awesome". For an equivalent example in English, think of how someone can have a "killer look" (very handsome or w/e), obviously it doesn't mean that someone looks like a killer...
