    Oh I'm not saying that they shouldn't license the novels.. "collaboration with the web translators" means only in the context of increasing the translation speed.. and well the printed books could get pro editors and then be sent on the market.. while the ones available online could charge a bit less money or the translators just get donations...

    not yet bro... qidian have made a thread here before about their plan on mass licensing all their novels.. and remake the system into a pay to read model.. though theyre still surveying the market ftm. Maybe in 1 or 2 years in the future.

    it's really not that hard to ship novels in by the way. you can order from amazon who can deliver to anywhere or there's a site i can't remember to use that someone could reply and site for me as im drawing a blank for.

    bottom line?
    it's fair enough to be mad if this means you can't access it anymore it will be a hassle to get. but for other people it means the FREE version is being taken down for the paid version to support the author.

    the thing which should annoy people is if they repeat what they did for hidan no aria and haruhi where they license it, then release 2 volumes and stop any attempts for continued fan translations

    actually i'm fine with buying the licensed one..
    the main reason i mad with yen press is, they really slow to release the novels, maybe 2-3 vol per year.so i need to wait several years to read the continuity from the free translations

    ill give you that their speed is bad but bear in mind they have people working on a lot of different series and don't try to churn them out series by series more a volume for a series here and there

    This is a good business practice. They get free advertisement and market research from hobby translators and they rake in the profit but denying those who have enjoyed the releases previously. Makes me wonder though, is Sousetsuka going to be affected?

    Welp. If you guys really wants to support the author though, you should buy all released volumes of it. Though it pretty much increase the risk of another similar DMCA to the next popular novels by yenpress..

    Well, that happened to a certain translator.. but a Visual Novel one.. I think its with STEAM. They should follow Steam's examples, recruiting translators who know the nooks of the material to be translated.~

    and i told you cooperation is impossible, too many complications. yenpress must pay licensing fee for past translation from fans translator. its not profitable too, not many people will pay for something already read. and there is a case the author will sue fans translator for translating their work in the past without their consent and yenpress can get in trouble too.

    i really doubt that death march's WN would be axed by DMCA
    wellp, so far, sousetsu still translating it and no news has been given by him
    and there's that much difference between the WN and LN

    having a novel picked by a big company is a (kinda) good news to be honest
    it could motivate the author since there's money involved
    the only downside is, it's not available for everyone, since other than the fact that we've got to pay with credit card, we also have to cover for the 3rd party delivery service, which is pricey as fuck

    i've heard that yenpress had a mobile app where we can buy the ebook version and have their own ebook viewer?
    is it true?

    Well, i asked sousetsuka and he said he will continue doing the WN, so i guess when YP reached the latest translation point for the LN i will consider buying it.

    @ru5ty
    @Rreelentless

    +1 for release speed problem bros.:notworthy:
    YP licensing here and there, just to end up not having time and workers to do the work anymore. But fantranslation also cant continue.

    I don't think the number of series has anything to do with it. Ever notice how some animes have a week delay before translations get officially put up? Licensing agreements, not because those series are so hard to translate.

    I refuse to believe that it takes over a year before the release of a first volume after the announcement of a licensed series followed by 6+ months between volume releases is due to the actual process of translating it.

    No one would be mad if the licensed series were done at a rate to catch up to the current version of Japan, but they keep series years behind the most current Japanese release on purpose.
