In the last five years (since 2015 or so) laptops have gotten a lot more efficient and thinner. I really wouldn't recommend buying anything older than that. Notebookcheck's mobile cpu benchmarks can give you a pretty good idea of how new CPUs compare to old ones in terms of performance. FM games will run easily on old hardware, a newer laptop should last longer though.
Haha I used notebook check before but their reviews don't update every year. Like I told @lighterxx my Dad's Surface Pro 2 and my Stream 8 didn't age well at all. I did get a cheap laptop on Aliexpress which split at the hinge and became a PC lol. Thanks again
Would you recommend a new Celeron . I have seen N4000, how does that compare to an i3? Can't check on my phone Thanks a lot for that link. I usually used that but forgot about it Funny enough I last bought a PC after much thought in 2015 with my Stream 8 since I kept returning my Hp Split 360 which had manufacturer defects
First, dont get refurbished unless you know ALL specs Second, dont chromebook, they are nice to see yet sucky to use Check non factory producers like HP and Acer, dont go for MSI, they are strong and amazing yet crazy expensive From plus side if you got money for msi, they last quite long if you care them well, mine is at its 6th year and plays ALL major games from witcher 3 to nier automata (but you dont do games so) Lastly get known brands, there is a reason they are known, if i were you i would go for acer, hp or asus, and dont dont touch lenova etc Also dont get m3 OR i3 i know cheapness is attractive, but i5 creates magic compared to those
Haha maybe I should get back to PC gaming. Before I got my PS 3, I used PlayStation emulators on my laptop
Thats why i love pcs, i can emulate anything They have ven made nintendo switch emulator these days o.o
one thing i also do whenever i bought refurbished/used laptop (which i do very often), is to inspect the assembly, to see how hard it wiil be to access the internal hardware. the most important will be the access to Ram and harddrive. if the laptop is not physically available (as in buying from an online market), i would try to find the disassembly video on youtube first. if its not available, then i would avoid it, for it means the model is not popular, or even obscure, potentially limiting the availability of spareparts personally though, i would still be againts buying a modern celeron. for most of the laptops equipped with them are not user-upgrade-friendly.
Due to locations issues,I might be limited in my options. The consensus seems to be upgradeable laptops and dedicated graphics if I am going for older PCs
Celeron N4000 in particular is pretty bad. #696 on the list, well below any modern i3. The i3-7130U released the same year (2017) is about 60% faster per-core and has 2c/4t as opposed to the Celeron's 2c/2t with no hyperthreading. And anything newer than that is even faster. Intel usually makes a different chip design for its Celeron lines that keeps it from encroaching on the Core series, which is considerably less powerful but cheaper to fab.
Alright checked amazon, personally i liked one of the featured laptops, however ask @runsing as well considering asking multiple people is best https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07R...a-a73d-5beaaca0766d&pf_rd_i=565108&th=1&psc=1 Worst thing about this one is the fact it uses AMD, not my fav at all, but still its not the worse. If nothing is wrong it should be able to process your fm game as well ON THE OTHER HAND if speed and screen size are not much issue for you, i suggest you this as well https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07KNLVRJ2/ref=psdcmw_13896615011_t3_B079TGL2BZ Certainly bit bulkier but it has everything you might need as well as 1tb memory you probably wont be able to finish
Isn't Windows 10 S the new RT? I am sure it can be turned off but standard Windows is preferred. More than 4 GB of RAM too
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4456067/windows-10-switch-out-of-s-mode Switching out of S mode is completely free.
You can switch out of it, most people do, at least unlike chrome, it does not offer limited time updates (thats why no matter how cheap NO CHROMEBOOKS)
If you want a new one or relatively new check Lenovo, their laptops are cheap and really good. I just want to point out that after two weeks there is Black Friday in the US, so if you are checking new laptops online you can wait till then the prices go down around 25%.
tbh it can go even lower in some cases its defintiely suggested to wait also @Wujigege if you see Razer, Monster or MSI for around 300~ at black friday no regrets buy right at that moment
contrary to hosh.. i mean @lighterxx , personally i find lenovo laptop is fine. unless you want to replace the wifi it came with. then you're screwed. (r.i.p) refurbished laptop, especially laptops that came out of japan, is usually in very good condition. at least i haven't found much that were badly scratched, unless i spesifically went looking for those. most of them were business-class, instead of the entry-level. i've checked both laptop dissambly/upgrade video, and as far as the hassle of removing the back/bottom cover goes, both are roughly similar. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -both laptop has space/slot for a 2.5" drives, be it hdd or ssd -both laptop has two ram slots -both laptop has m.2/nvme slot for ssd -both laptop has roughly similar performance in graphic (iinm). beating each other depending on the app used. pros for HP - has usb type-C port, making a total of 3 usb ports. a hdmi, and a card reader. also more ram (8GB). possibly also comes with 1TB hdd included pros for Acer - backlit keyboard, newer processor with 4-core, bigger screen with fullHD resolution, 802.11ac wifi, cheaper price Spoiler: vids .
