Hello, I’m looking for more substantive lighthearted novels where there isn’t much emphasis on how perfect the MC or the love interest is. Example: many descriptions or side characters commenting on how good-looking, smart, rich, or otherwise OP they are. I’ve noticed this trend a lot especially with chinese novels and I’d like less fawning over the main characters. I don’t even mind if they exhibit any of those traits (smart, rich, handsome, etc) as long as the reader isn’t given constant reminders of it. Novels like Very Happy and Card Room were kind of ruined for me because of all the fawning and lack of depth for other characters. I prefer novels with romance (1v1, BG/BL/GL) but any genre is fine as long as it fits what I described. Plot is appreciated but slice of life is good too.
