not history but if you don't mind complicated and sometimes dark stories you could try Turns Out I'm Crazy. some yandere stuff going on there, the worst is in the beginning of the story, and the whole concept is odd but it is one of those stories you actually sit and wonder about after you finish reading. The Earth is Online or pretty much any of the others by MCH. Almost all of her stories have smart MC and ML that don't treat them like little children (a plus for me). Those Years We Killed the White Lotus and Boyfriend Always Turn Out to Be a Horror Movie BOSS are interesting quick wear/ world hopping that haven't already been mentioned.

I just read Breaking through the clouds and I love it. Sadly it's only 17 chapter translated. Maybe I will continue through Mtl later.
The translator changes around chapter 25 I think. Before that the translation is very nice. The translation after that is perhaps half a step up from MTL? It's not that great tbh and kind of ruins the experience for me, but if you can get past it, I think most of the plot points are readable. Edit: I actually stopped reading from NU bc I was planning on just reading the raws myself, but the first batch of translations by the new translator were rather bad. I checked the most recent releases and they seem more edited, but I think it's probably at most MTL heavily edited for grammar, as the translator has stated that neither English or Chinese is their first language
I think I will read another novel with a good translation first. From all these remomendations, I will need a few days to finish it. Maybe I will read it later.
I'm working on this one currently (outside of NU). Genre-wise, it's a bit of a mixed bag and starts off fairly light-hearted and now is moving into a more angsty arc. About a jade rabbit who is haunted by the death of his first owner and thinks he may have found his reincarnation in the new owner... 31 chapters done so far.

you should definitely read "sha po lang" it has storyline, very decent plots, angst, romance, history and like everything you could ask for. Its one of the best bl if not the best i have read so far

You guys aren’t scared but I wanna live!!!” A story that starts out with Shou taking care of the Gong, then Gong takes care of the Shou. This generally happy but it does have some tear jerker moments
