Ive actually read all of them. I was IN LOVE with Mushoku Tensei. One of the best novels ive read thus far. Not a big fan of Martial God Asura. I liked it at first but now it just got old and start to realize is that the MC is actually an extremly evil guy, just the story is made so he "looks like the good guy". I havent read martial odyessy. I heard the MC was dumb and so was hesitant to read it.
Martial odyessy or w/e is a "fiction" written in chinese, the only thing I can say is while the MC is dumb, he is OP and he has a huge ass harem.. I wouldn't actually recommend reading it if your looking for something extremely serious.
hmmm, ill give it a try. What im really trying to go for is a strong/smart male lead who had a tragic past that eventually falls in love. Cant think of any novels on the top of my head.
what kind of tragic past are you looking for? Are you looking for the one that >starts< off like that or one that eventually happens? I can find you one most likely. (Do mind it will be slow as I'm intoxicated to a extent.)

Hmm... you might like the A Step into the Past light novel. Time travel, Romance, Action, Espionage, Politics. But instead of fantasy, it's mostly alternate history with some martial arts. Modern-day Special Forces soldier gets sent back in time to the era just before Qin Shi Huang united the seven kingdoms into China's first empire, and he needs to figure out how to survive in that time, romance the girl(s) he likes, while not making too big an impact on history and helping the young king become emperor.
