I'm looking for any novel (translated or original) or manga where the ex of the MC or the girl who rejected the MC regrets her actions (break up with him, betraying him, or just rejecting him). I'm a looking for the MC improving himself and becoming successful and finding someone better. I don't want the ex/rejector to end (back) up together with the MC. I also prefer if it's regret that comes from them seeing things clearly and realizing what they've lost and from the guilt from their actions. Don't want a bitch that regrets only because MC now has money and status. I want it to be that they regret being foolish and giving up something precious, genuine, etc. I also accept female MCs. Also prefer the MC to be a likable person who has become more mature and has moved on instead of being vengeful or turning into another pretentious arrogant jackass type MC. Only example I can think of atm is Martial World. Huge plus if: it's fat to fit or ugly to beautiful it's not harem and MC meets a great FL
Have you ever read any chinese novels with broken engagement tag? But honestly I only read a few novels that love interest regret for mc and not for his/her money and status. And I cant remember any of them now ;-;
Oh right The World of Otome Games is Tough For Mobs. have a character like that but she's not mc and her ex didn't regret it yet.
Common sense of Duke's daughter EVEN THOUGH I’M A FORMER NOBLE AND A SINGLE MOTHER, MY DAUGHTERS ARE TOO CUTE AND WORKING AS AN ADVENTURER ISN’T TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE
Always been a bit put off by this trope. Sometimes authors don't write the revenge to fit the circumstances. In Coiling Dragon the first love of the MC broke up with him because she liked someone else. Being a teenager, she didn't tell him straight away. As a consequence she spent the rest of her life alone wallowing in regret. In another fic, it was an arranged marriage. MC became trash, family lost power, agreement cancelled etc. The girl was punished later on when the MC rose to success. For what? Being engaged to a girl through your family doesn't mean shit until you are actually married. It's a business transaction. Common sense for the girl not to go ahead with it if you or your family fuck up and better opportunity comes along.
