I tend to type out some BB code manually too, but mainly when I think it is easier... But I use the buttons whenever I can.

I also have a weird habit of always typing the BB Code according to the standard of the forum, because my OCD wouldn't allow it to be different otherwise, so everything is in full caps, and the spoiler titles are within quotations... >.>))

{{ I can totally understand getting obsessive about the standard, and sometimes I do that too, but it depends on my mood. As for buttons, back in the day we didn't have all those fancy buttons-shmuttons. At most you'd get a quote and img button or something, and those were rather slow. I guess that's where it all originated for me, along with learning to code some simpler stuff. }}
